neard the deadline. New Attys came in to handle the case. Knowing they would be granted time to review the many many pages of docs.

She has no choice but to play fairly by the law. Even if the stall tactic was obvious to everyone.

Extensions in matters like this are routinely requested, and routinely granted. Denying the extension would raise an issue of whether the judge had abused her discretion in adhering to the original deadline, and Cohen's attorneys would surely not be shy about freezing the proceedings by filing an appeal of the denial of the extension.

By all accounts, Cohen's present attorneys are looking to withdraw from representation, but they know that they are going to be required to complete tasks in progress so as not to prejudice their client. Judge Jones probably figured that they are highly motivated to finish the privilege review of the items taken by the FBI pursuant to the search warrants, and an additional 10 days isn't that big a deal in the scheme of things.

What exactly do you think would have been accomplished by not granting the delay that wouldn't be available because of the delay?

It will keep the spotlight on right into the next election cycle. Just another detail that will be harder to forget and sweep under the rug. Shine On.
