Kirstjen Nielsen's tweet and limericks... You thought you knew what cynicism mean? Look at this !

Here’s a dishonest tweet from Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstejen Nielsen and also five limericks.
Matthew Dessem

Here is an unusually Orwellian lie from Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen:

We do not have a policy of separating families at the border. Period.
— Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen (@SecNielsen) June 17, 2018

And here, because there’s no way to respond to this kind of thing substantively without losing your goddamned mind, are five limericks:

We are not stealing kids at the borders,
We’re not giving them panic disorders,
And those screams that you hear
Aren’t from children in fear,
But we won’t be admitting reporters.

Even back in the dark middle ages,
People rarely put children in cages,
But our motives aren’t tribal,
We’re inspired by the bible:
The part that says sin pays good wages.

Responding to war crimes with limericks,
Is a bullshit performative gimerick.
This pre-emptive admission
Gives me lifetime permission,
To pursue all my stupidest whimericks.

It’s not nice to call right-wingers racists,
At the most you should call them “birthplacists.”
Only hemming and hawing,
Can keep them from withdrawing,
Till our country’s a total disgracist.

The immigrant threat must be banished,
Even if a few toddlers get vanished.
If their parents had cared,
They would never have dared,
To have come over here speaking Spanish.

going way past that.

The word dates to 1644.

American poet James Russell Lowell might have used it best:

in 1876, in a letter to Joel Benton, writing, "What fills me with doubt and dismay is the degradation of the moral tone. Is it or is it not a result of Democracy? Is ours a 'government of the people by the people for the people,' or a Kakistocracy rather, for the benefit of knaves at the cost of fools?

Wiki also notes:
The word returned to use during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, particularly by opponents and critics of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

We don't torture. We merely engage in enhanced interrogation.

"We do not have a policy of separating families at the border". We merely follow the law.

(Yes, I know there is no law and it's Trump policy)

After many treacherous hurdles
Their packed into cages like gerbils
It breaks all our hearts
But the scariest part
Is Miller believing he's Goebbels
