"It would be better to replace the vase, so I will take $25 to the store and buy a new one."
'Wasteful government spending! You can't waste the taxpayers' hard-earned dollars like that!'
"Then I will create a job by taking the vase to a restorer. It should only cost $20 to have him fix it."
'That's also wasteful spending, and the restorer might employ an illegal immigrant. Do you want the taxpayers' hard-earned dollars going to finance terrorism?'
"I guess I will have to fix the vase, then. I can get some glue for $10."

"If you were trying to be a good steward of the taxpayer's dollars, you wouldn't have broken the vase in the first place."
'Is that vase really necessary?'
"No, not really...and it's not even a vase. It's an urn."
'An urn? Are you sure?'
"Yup. And it's got Ayn Rand's ashes in it."
'Then by all means...spend as much as you need to.'
"Okay." (The Democrat gets a broom and dustpan, sweeps up the broken urn and Ayn's cremains, puts them in a garbage sack with a brick in the bottom of it, and drops it in the river.)
