does it have traction? What are Californians saying. Is this a left or right thing? I tend to put it in the same file as the CALEXIT Russian plot and hope Californians treat it the same way. We need a strong California.

(6,324 posts)First the state legislature has to approve it. From what I read they will try and sue and say citizens voting is the same under the CA Constitution. Thats a stretch. Then if they win that battle they have to get Congress to approve. Thats almost an impossible task. The Senate is an exclusive club where by virtue of its small size each Senator has enourmous power. They wont be up for adding even 4 new members to the club.

Aticle 4, Section 3 lays out the congressional need. Seems highly unlikely, and as such is a distraction.

Back in the day, this 1941 effort actually had a modest chance of going somewhere. That is, until the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor put it on the back burner; its been simmering ever since.
