@parscale

If a Democrat did what @realDonaldTrump achieved yesterday they would call it one of the most significant diplomatic achievements in US history.

Actually, Democrats crafted a nuclear accord with specifics and strict verification that was judged by international proliferation experts to be working. It was called the Iran deal. And Trump abandoned it.

American-North Korean relations have further been strained by the arrest of two American journalists on March 17, 2009. The two journalists, Euna Lee and Laura Ling of Current TV, were arrested on the North Korean border in China while supposedly filming a documentary on the trafficking of women and allegedly crossing into North Korea in the process. North Korea subsequently tried the two journalists amid international protests and found them guilty of the charges, and sentenced them to twelve years of hard labor. The U.S. criticized the act as a "sham trial".

The ordeal was finally resolved on August 4, when former President Bill Clinton arrived in Pyongyang in what he described as a "solely private mission" to secure the release of the two American journalists. He reportedly forwarded a message to North Korean leader Kim Jong-il from then-U.S. President Barack Obama, but White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs denied this claim. Clinton's discussions with Kim were reportedly on various issues regarding American-North Korean relations. On August 5, Kim issued a formal pardon to the two American journalists, who subsequently returned to Los Angeles with Clinton. The unannounced visit by Clinton was the first by a high-profile American official since 2000, and is reported to have drawn praise and understanding by the parties involved.

So, STFU Brad.

else could any nation, any nation do now but NOT trust anything verbal or spoken by this untrustworthy power?

And ripping up NAFTA, Trans-Pacific, insulting all allies, stroking enemies...sure, should trust them only as far as you can see them.

Republicans "forgot" how they viciously attacked Obama at the mere mention of "talking with evil dictators with no preconditions", absolutely hammered the propaganda. Even when Shitler said the talks were off they immediately said that was now a good idea, and then whiplashed back to being a good idea within 24 hours....amazing hypocrisy.

Under the broad agreement concluded here late Monday, North Korea will freeze its nuclear activities, renounce any ambition to become a nuclear power and open up two secret military sites to inspection by international experts so they can determine whether Pyongyang already has nuclear capability.

In exchange, an international consortium will replace North Korea's current graphite nuclear reactors with new light-water reactors, which are considered less dangerous because they produce little weapons-grade plutonium. The United States also agreed to low-level diplomatic ties with North Korea.

After the signing today, North Korea's chief negotiator, Kang Sok Ju, described it as "a very important milestone document of historic significance" that would resolve his country's nuclear dispute with the United States "once and for all."
