(I can imagine the snark answers already )
But Harry Reid said the other day that he was worth much more than the reported $250 million dollars. Is he a billionaire?
But, when you think about it, there has been no better time in our history than now for a billionaire President. That would be the end of America as we have known it. The ultimate victory of the upper class over the rest of the country. It may be closer than you think?

(31,706 posts)There definitely is something interesting or unique in having Willard run for President at this time. For the past 30 years we've been told that being rich is the ultimate goal and being filthy rich is the "American Dream". It's no longer having the house in the burbs with the kids and dog...the Dream became oppulance, greed and excess. We were told that one could never make too much money and to look up to those who did have tremendous wealth as a symbol of major success in today's society.
This November we'll find out if people find having that large amount of wealth (and it doesn't matter if its 100 million or 100 billion) as a qualification to lead this nation. What remains of the middle class is at stake and we'll find out if we're a nation that can be bought and sold...
Right on.

(129,017 posts)although "hidden". As it is, there are about 425 "reported" billionaires in the U.S.

Never thought I'd see the day that the entire Forbes 400 list was populated by billionaires.

(14,177 posts)but he is the worst excuse of a human being. His fortune started with being funded by RW El Salvadorans that funded death squads. There are too many stories of him abusing both animals and people. His personality seems to be bordering on sadistic and wooden. I think the only time he feels alive is when he is causing someone pain. I seriously doubt he doesn't abuse Ann, which might account for her strange behavior. Yeah, I still don't like her, but I would at least sympathize with her situation if this is the case. Anyway, how many people do you know that act like Mitt does and aren't abusive at home? I don't know of any. Plus, he acts all smarmy like a lot of abusers, oh bother I am rambling.

(97 posts)He pointed out that the one year we have tax returns for, 2010, Mitt had 20 million in income. He then pointed out that this was all passive income and with interest rates the way they are, it would be difficult to be getting more than 2% on your wealth as passive income. At 2%, you'd have to have over a billion in assets to generate 20 million in income.

AND he wants a tax cut AND he wants the plebes to pay more. Because that will fix the economy. Which is broken largely because wealthy people pay next to nothing in taxes and are hording wealth.

(32,084 posts)To "How much do you think are Mitt's total financial assets?" Because, as several others here have stated, Mitt, himself, isn't worth the shit that comes out of his ass. As for his financial assets, I'm betting that he's a billionaire, too. I don't see how he isn't. This is a guy with an IRA that's worth $100 million, alone. He gave his five sons another $100 million. I am not clear as to whether it's $100 million to the five, or they each got that much. If he has that kind of money put into just these two things, you know damn well there's a ton more where that came from.

(63,221 posts)he's keeping his accounts hidden offshore and in other names. I would assume that he's worth billions and would definitely be on there if his financial assets were honestly disclosed.

(10,103 posts)His main assets have to be in the range of a billion dollars or so, in order to generate the passive income. Add trust fund of 100 million to the kids (it appears to be one trust for all of them), another 100 million in his IRA (I'd like to know how he managed that), offshore accounts, a probably trust fund for his wife, and, and, and............
I don't think I like this man very much. By the way, you will notice he says that he has paid all the taxes that were owed, which doesn't mean he's not been gaiming the system.

The metal in a gold dental restoration is worth about $50 so if he has five gold fillings, he's worth $260.
