Obamacare used to be political poison for Democrats. Now they see it as a winning prescription

Obamacare used to be political poison for Democrats. Now they see it as a winning prescription — even in red states

For years Democrats ran from the healthcare issue as though it were a heap of flaming rubble, which, politically speaking, it was.

Passage of the Affordable Care Act cost them control of Congress, gave rise to the upstart tea party movement and helped install Donald Trump in the White House.

But polls show support for the law increasing as it becomes more imperiled, and the result has been a political sea change.

A backlash to GOP repeal efforts has emboldened Democrats, who think they can seize back the House, dramatically expand coverage and turn healthcare from an albatross to an advantage even in red states like Idaho, with the help of Republicans like Christy Perry.

It never was political poison. Democrats refused to defend it and let the Republicans lie about it. Freethinker65 Jun 2018 #1

decided to let it wither and die on the vine, instead of actively supporting it while Obama was still in office. the duplicitous bullshit has to be gotten rid of in the party. something good, albeit not perfect, is put in place, but because they have to worry where their campaign cash is coming from, they don't support good policies or put in proper protections.

if this so called blue wave occurs, once two scoops is handled, single payer universal healthcare needs to be rammed down the throats of the american people who speak against it.

and keep ramming until it's done.

Besides, half of the deplorables were too stupid to realize that the ACA and Obama care were the same thing! The idiots believe GOP propaganda and this is what happens.
