Putin Used tRump as His Proxy to Test The Waters at G7

Here are a few paragraphs from an Express article that make me believe the meeting in Charlevoix was just that:
Mr Putin offered to host the next summit after his US counterpart Donald Trump suggested Russia should have been at the Quebec gathering which came to an acrimonious end last night.
Russia was booted out of the then-G8 when it annexed Ukraine's Crimea four years ago and has done little since to win favour with the elite group of wealthy nations.
Mr Putin, speaking during a visit to China, said: "We did not choose to leave it, our colleagues refused to come to Russia due to known reasons at some point.
Please, we will be glad to see everyone here in Moscow.

Maybe it would be more precise to call the United States Putin's "foil", a useful tool for comparing how mistreated he is by the other industrialized nations. Notice how Putin believes that, once accepted back into G8, the nations will meet in Russia. This seems rather presumptuous to me. His tone does not indicate a need for reconciliation. It's more like the G7 need to show obeisance to Russia...to Putin. Well, we already know that tRump shows obeisance, so what better way to test the waters in Charlevoix than by having your proxy argue on your behalf? Too bad Putin picked a numbskull to do his bidding! I sincerely hope that the rest of the world picks up on how Putin used tRump as his proxy. Using an ass as your proxy makes you, Putin, look like a bigger ass!
