Trump told Macron that there are too many German cars in the United States.

Trump told Macron EU worse than China on trade

(CNN)President Donald Trump told French President Emmanuel Macron in April that the European Union is worse than China on trade during a conversation that portended the tense end to this year's G7 summit.

In a meeting at the White House during Macron's visit to Washington in April, he suggested the United States and France should work together to resolve shared trade problems with Beijing, prompting Trump to make his remark, a person in the room told CNN.

The source previously told CNN that Trump told Macron during their recent meeting in Washington that there are too many German cars in the United States. The source did not say that Trump explicitly said he wanted all German-made cars out of the US. Trump focused his conversation with Macron on German trade for about 15 minutes in the one-hour meeting.

Trump has been on a tear about German trade and cars in particular, bringing up the issues with other European leaders with whom he has met over the last few months, the source said.

That "government money" talking point is a death sentence. They need the money, republicans give it to them, then the republicans turn around and shame them because they are psychopaths. They're like Lucy pulling the football from Charlie Brown, only they spit in his face and kick him in the ribs after it's done.

Among other foreign imports, hippo-crit has himself owned at least a couple of Mercedes Benz autos.

Car Keys

Over time, Trump has owned the likes of the Mercedes-owned Maybach limousine and the more recent S600 saloon, according to Goldasz.

"Probably the most intriguing Mercedes which Donald has owned, though, is the SLR McLaren supercar," he said. "It was originally launched back in 2003, back when Mercedes and McLaren Automotive were close partners. The combined efforts of these brands resulted in the creation of a striking two-door grand tourer which boasted 617bhp as standard from a supercharged V8. The only things possibly more striking than that were the car's Formula 1-esque nose and its big gullwing doors."

I have this great picture (that I need to open a website so I have hosting space) of Fiat of Manhattan. On the window of the store was a special offer: one year free parking with any new car.

If I lived between the southern edge of Central Park and the FDR I wouldn’t have a car...public transportation in Manhattan is good and there are plenty of yellow cabs for those once-a-pay period major supply runs. Given that, if I lived in New York I’d live either north of 100th Street or in Brooklyn or the Bronx, because I’d still want a car.

Elio Motors is an autocycle design company founded by Paul Elio in 2009. The three-wheeled Elio P4 aspires to attain a highway mileage rating of up to 84 mpg with regular automobile features such as power windows, a power door lock, cruise control, and air conditioning, all in an aerodynamic, enclosed vehicle body. The design also includes a safety system of multiple air bags, anti-lock brakes, traction control, steel unibody frame, and crumple zones. Elio has suggested that manufacturing could happen in Shreveport, Louisiana, but has yet to go into production. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elio_Motors

To date there are over 65K pre-orders. That's a lot of people who are paying for conceptual transportation! I guess if the Rump has his way, we will all be using conceptual transportation (dreaming of having a car while we walk).

Mon Jun 11, 2018, 09:58 AM

Does Donald Trump not understand that Americans have a right to buy whatever car they want to buy? It is not the German car makers' fault if Americans would prefer to buy German cars then American cars. It is not the fault of the German car makers if Americans feel it is more prestigious to own a German car than an American. If he wants more Americans to buy American cars than maybe he should tell the American automakers to make better cars, or make cars that have the same prestige as German cars.

The only other option is to limit the number of German cars that are allowed to be imported to the United States. However, I do not believe preventing certain items to be sold in a country just because the people of the country perfer to buy that item is a tenet of Capitalism. I remember a time when Republicans were opposed to economic systems other than Capitalism. I also remember a time when the Republican Party merciless criticized a black President for supposedly being anti-Capitalist. I do not recall that black President ever saying there were too many German cars on American roads. Also, at one point that black President drove an American made car (Chrysler 300).
