The last. The GOP would need some kind of massive event to stop a Presidential election. That's something
the nation never canceled during the Civil War, a Great Depression, World War 2, the Korean War, Vietnam
war with mass civil unrest, and the post 911/War on terror era.

Actually canceling an election would force the issue of America descending into fascism. It would force
the majority of citizens who just want to go about their lives and hate politics, to choose either to side
with the new order or get off the sidelines to battle for our liberty in the streets as a protestor or maybe
an even a more extreme form of "resistance"

Trump, the GOP and the oligarchs want us to remain asleep or indifferent. You couldn't cover up canceling an
election as something "The other side does too" It would force people to choose not to get involved.

They will continue ramming through legislation and stacking the courts while waiting for the Democratic
challenger to emerge from primaries and smear him/her so much they can shave the margins of the electorate
(by turning off millions of voters) just enough to GOP shenanigans and Russian election tampering can give Trump
a narrow "victory" again.

19. I'm old, too. I'm still tired from stopping a war in the 60s and 70s.

If someone like Trump came to power in the 60s and pulled his antics we would have been burning this country to the ground.

I've always felt that protest was largely the province of the young. Until the Parkland kids I had been seriously disappointed in the young generation. I know I just sound like a grumpy old fart.

On second thought, maybe it's just as well I don't.

For a year now people have been absolutely convinced that Trump is on the edge of leaving office, or that Mueller is going to indict his crazy ass and haul him into court. None of that has happened. And I still think the likeliest outcome of Mueller's whole investigation is that he files a few more indictments, none against Trump, then a giant report to Congress. Which will, of course, do nothing. Even if we take back both houses of Congress, I don't trust those Democrats to take decisive action.
