i have an american flag that i flew on the front of my house for years. i had a lot of people assume i was a republican as a result. frankly, there are few insults worse than being mistaken for a republican!

note that this before donnie was involved in politics. republicans have long claimed partisan ownership of both patriotism and religion.

i'm not categorically opposed to flying the flag, but the holder broke a few years back and i've never felt any particular need to fix it.

An American with this cretin in the White House.

Him and his supporters are insane and I especially go crazy when I hear one of his supporters say he is the greatest president ever with the most accomplishments ever. They call into these progressive talk shows on Sirius and spout this garbage. Makes me want to barf.

Right wingers are everywhere and they don't shy away from related comments. People who don't attend those events wouldn't have any idea the extent of it: "Get on your feet. Everybody on your feet. Otherwise get out of here." The anthem and the minute or so preceding and following are now viewed as a celebration of the Trump mindset.

It is actually worse at college events than pro events, despite the political focus on the NFL. Those college games especially in the South draw a heavy conservative white loudmouth crowd who aren't shy to say anything.

I hate it. It was bad enough when the younger singers started the trend of elongating various verses and words, knowing the prolonged version and high decibel level would thrill their peers to shouts of approval. Combined with the Trump aspect I now would prefer to be wandering the stadium or even in the bathroom.

is ruined for me, but I honestly can’t say it was Trump. Wingers did it for me. The songs, the flag, anything red white and blue... I used to fly a flag. I stopped when we set up our concentration camp in Cuba. I sai I’d fly it again when we close the camp. We haven’t, but I wouldn’t fly it anyway. Anything patriotic just makes me think of the nutcase right and their military worshipping, gun-loving, hating followers.

And I will no longer stand for the anthem, which I did before.

I grew up deeply loving this country and everything it stood for. I flew a flag, and I kept it clean and folded when it wasn't on the staff outside my house. But now I can't do that. I can't do it, because I will invariably be mistaken for some ignorant racist jackhole who loves Trump and everything he stands for.

The melody is tremendously awkward and the lyrics are awful, (read the additional stanzas).

However, I agree with you that Trump ruins everything.
