(102,285 posts)I have no idea what they are responding to, but it doesn't seem to be saying they will not accept LGBTQ members? What have I missed?

(210 posts)It looks like the gym is canceling a pride event that was to be hosted there.

(463 posts)I mean, no one is obligated to host a pride event if they don't particularly want to. If they were banning or mistreating LGBT members, then there's a big problem.
However, intolerant, bigoted assholes?
Yep. And I'd quit going there if I did.
Interesting they fell back on that S.C. decision though. Did they think they were obligated to hold a Pride event before that? I'd also be curious to know what other events they host, to see if there's some kind of dissonance there.

(463 posts)I'm so glad a 24-Hour Fitness just opened walking distance from me. Some of these places are kooky.
A gun giveaway at a gym . . .
People have lost their damn minds.

(52,243 posts)we use the same word "pride" where it's the opposite of humility or the opposite of shame.
many argue it's two sides of the same coin, i would argue that they're two fundamentally different concepts. in any event, most people generally agree that a certain measure of pride in things like country and self and community are a good thing, and only a problem if taken too far.
"pride" marches are the opposite of shame, but this gym is shutting it down like on the grounds that it's the opposite of humility.
fundamentally wrong.

(1,595 posts)The CEO used the term "holy war" when talking about sugar drinks. While I agree about less sugar drinks, the way he put it says something. 1. they give away a glock at a Crossfit game 2. site SCOTUS on cancelling pride event.
"Ive got to get soda out of the health sciences. For me its a holy war. They are selling poison, and they are corrupting the health sciences. Im going to keep at it till it happens".
