If Administrative norms of behavior are not codified into law, then from now on they will not be followed as one would expect in a civilized society.

Dump is setting a really bad precedent.

Things that should not have to be spelled out will have to be specifically prohibited, one at a time, after this buffoon leaves office. Who would have thought?

2. I'm afraid that is exactly what has to happen.

It most likely won't be easy either. Normally, the Administration could lay down guidelines which would be followed but when you have the chief executive himself violating almost every norm imaginable it is a real problem. Plus, we have about a third of our citizenry cheering the bastard on.

I fear the norms he hasn't violated are simply ones he's not got around to yet.

3. Perhaps there will be positive results from Trump's presidency

Given the depth of corruption and malfeasance by Trump and his gang of goons, wouldn't it be wonderful if the next president and Congress pass some laws or Constitutional amendments to prevent another demagogue from abusing our system?

A few things that come to mind:

- Presidential candidates must release the last seven years of their income tax returns
- Stronger anti-nepotism laws
- The president must divest of all business interests; a truly blind trust should administer POTUS's assets.
- The Emoluments Clause must be enforced
- The pardon power of POTUS should be amended and severely limited, (both parties have abused it)
- The erection of a definitive wall between the Department of Justice and the president
- Protection of our electoral system; abolishment of the Electoral College in favor of the popular vote

These are just a few ideas that come to mind immediately and there are undoubtably many more that could be addressed.

If our nation doesn't learn from this terrible mistake in our politics, then I fear we don't deserve our Republic.

4. Every one of those really need to be part of the Democratic Party's platform.

Unfortunately, they also need to be made into law after the way dump and his GOP enablers have shirked their office and duties to this country.
