Manafort used a russian intel asset to tamper witnesses, thats 100 on a scale of 1 to 10 of dumbness

"in the middle of a scandal featuring collusion with the Russian state, it seems Manafort relied on an asset of Russian intelligence to abet a plot to tamper with a witness."

By any rationale standard, Manafort should have long ago jettisoned his relationship with Kilminik. On two separate occasions, Mueller has described Kilimnik as having “ties to Russian intelligence.” Put differently, in the middle of a scandal featuring collusion with the Russian state, it seems Manafort relied on an asset of Russian intelligence to abet a plot to tamper with a witness. That’s hardly the work of a strategic genius.

How stupid would you have to be.......Can we put a figure yet on how much jail time he is going to get for this one.

While the pardon can be used as more evidence of obstruction against Trump, it does mean a traitor like Manafort received a "get out of jail free" card.

He's not getting a pardon, and that's why he's desperate. So desperate as to try witness tampering which may have been suggested by his Russian buddies.

With a sure-thing of a pardon, it wouldn't matter what the witnesses said, so no need to make any more trouble.

I found that he was not only careless, but nor very smart, a lot of the things they did was sort of amateurish (I am no expert), but that is what the article stated. If I recall correctly, in the article the author referred to some of the paperwork that was submitted to some banks and he found a lack of detail and professionalism.

Anyway, I am not surprised he tried to tamper with witnesses, even knowing he was being watched and most probably listened to all his conversations.

They should place him on a high security jail because as someone already said, he may end up eating some fatal dessert just to protect trump, and also to make his discomfort high enough that he will want to talk and be taken out of jail. Also, do not put him in a cell with a criminal, the criminal could get an offer to do away with Manafort.

You're right about the sloppy carelessness too. Manafort has been hanging out with spies and secret agents long enough that he thinks he IS one. But he isn't, he's just a traitor and a schlubb. He's gotten away with this for way too long.

Manafort likely believes Trump will hold his powers of pardon for those still in his inner circle. Don Jr and Kushner come immediately to mind. Early players like Manafort and Flynn are cannon fodder in the war against justice.

endlessly Things like pardoning Manafort or any une under investigation by Mueller shows proof of Trumps ties to Russia there by his guiltiness probably won’t work but it it might make a few more think

Who, when held under house arrest with federal charges hanging over their head, decides that using his personal phone to try to influence prospective witnesses is a good idea? Doesn't he know the FBI can get permission for a wiretap?

Sheesh! At least use a burner phone! Give the feds something more challenging to do.

I doubt the fact that some of the messages are encrypted will be a deterrent for the FBI. There are some pretty smart and dedicated people there.

We ought to have a "Pardon Countdown Clock" for each of Mueller's witnesses.
