Philadelphia Eagles issue statement on WH disinvite - take high road by ignoring Trump

A few hours after President Donald Trump disinvited the Eagles to the White House, the team released a statement that didn’t even mention him.

Instead, the Eagles’ statement was about moving on:

“It has been incredibly thrilling to celebrate our first Super Bowl Championship. Watching the entire Eagles community come together has been an inspiration. We are truly grateful for all of the support we have received and we are looking forward to continuing our preparations for the 2018 season.”

because they're afraid of him. The NFL should stop cowering in the corner, man up, and call out the Idiot in Chief regardless of the fallout.

is the best way of making the ping pong ball of his brain bounce around and around.

I think they did the right thing. And I'm a Buccaneer fan.

This is the reason none of us should read his tweets or retweet him or repeat his words.

The president derives a lot of his influence by his ability to drive the national conversation. Deprive him of that. Talk about what we want to talk about: our agenda.

So much (all) of his tweeting is BS anyway.

Just report on what he does. That's the only thing that matters and the only thing that you can count on.

They know better than to get in the mud with him.
As George Bernard Shaw said, “Never wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it.”

The Eagles refuse to wrestle with this pig. Good on them.

The Eagles did exactly the right thing. tRump needs to minimized at every possible moment. He thrives on attention and it doesn't matter if it is negative or positive.

They should have told the truth like the Jim Kenney the Mayor of Philadelphia did.

“Disinviting them from the White House only proves that our President is not a true patriot, but a fragile egomaniac obsessed with crowd size and afraid of the embarrassment of throwing a party to which no one wants to attend”

Trump wants nothing more than to get into a public fight with the Eagles. They didn’t give it to him. Instead they’re acting as if he’s nothing, which is what he hates more than anything else.

Trump would like nothing more than to spend today in a public back and forth with Eagles. Instead, they walked away and just left him standing there huffing and puffing for a fight and looking ridiculous.

Everything does not have to be a full frontal in your face assault in order to be effective.

It does not mean that the Eagles were wrong, just that they view it differently.

No reason to become a pawn for potus. Odds are he would have stood in front of the team at a photo op and used it as a forum to opine about the elephant in the room.
