I voted a week or so ago. I hope people turn out. There should be a whole bunch of farmers that are more than a little ticked off at Trump, so that should help.

started voting absentee.

It could also be that I am in the elder group and it's just better that way when the weather is questionable.

Go, Iowa.

I read on one site that you don't need to have an ID if you're not a first time voter. But our newly elected Con, head of elections sent postcards out saying you must have a valid picture ID in order to vote.

other numbers were acceptable, can't recall exactly which ones. I also had to sign to swear/affirm that I was an eligible voter.

This has to be signed and returned. Your original signature is on your registration, so between being mailed from your address and having your signature to compare, that makes it valid, I guess. I've never had any problems and I've been voting absentee for a number of years. Once they receive my envelope, they have my party and my ID, so they can mark me off the roles as having voted without opening the inner envelope to see who I voted for.

When I physically go to the polls, someone there usually knows me. I never have to show my card, although I have it with me just in case. Since I haven't gone to the polls for several years, maybe things have changed, but for the 60 years I've voted, I've never been challenged. I don't live in a small town...25K or so...but I can't remember a time when someone didn't say, "I know her." After a little chitchat, I go vote. (We also have our driver's license with a photo, if challenged.)

The GOP screws everything up. Too bad they are always so "vigilant" when it comes to Democrats voting, but not with their own doings. I've never seen such a corrupt bunch of people. Too bad we can't get along.

by switching their registration to the party. It's possible that some of the Dem numbers are Republican who've switched to vote for whoever they think will mess up the Democrat's plans. For example, if they did that in sufficient numbers that no candidate got 35%, it will go to the state convention.

This also means that independent voters cannot vote, unless they register with one of the parties.
