6. Not a new fight

The separation of families is disgusting but this is a much bigger issue. How we treat people in society who are immigrants (even if illegal), refugees, convicted criminals, etc.... is a reflection of who we are. In the cases of convicted criminals, I'm good with separation, even punishment, but dehumanization doesn't help anyone and tells us more about who we are than any bizarre benefit one could dream up.

These kids aren't even the adult Dreamers people are fighting over...they are legit kids, in worse than prison conditions because their family was looking for a better life. Inexcusable.
