well, My family told us tonight they knew we loved cruising and since it is our 30 anniversary, they pooled together and bought us a cruise for our anniversary.
Hubby knew but kept saying we would probably just go to Okla City or Branson.
My family surprises me daily. DH and the 3 kids planned this for a year and I never had any suspicion .
They wanted to do some grand gesture because I almost died in 16 and after getting that under control in early 18 had some complications.
So although I have a couple books planned to read on the low key vacation I probably won't be reading them on the LIberty Sometimes life is good when you don't even know its coming.
Love my family

(5,969 posts)I know there seems to be this prejudice that it's something for old people but cruises are great. If it's on one of those large ships, the first time I was on one, I was amazed that you basically enter a little city. It also seems to be the most comfortable way to visit many different locations/countries in a short time. I'recommend to participate in those day trips to get to know the visited locations.
The only problem I have and it's something I only learned later, the conditions for the workers there seem to be pretty bad. So if you can, at the end of the cruise, consider tips for the cleaning personnel or waiters. Sometimes they are already included, sometimes voluntary but regardless, we always gave a little bit extra.

(3,065 posts)Heading out on the Celebrity Equinox for the Eastern Caribbean the week of Thanksgiving. My sixth cruise.
I go as a guest of the cruise line's casino and get a free balcony cabin and drinks.
Cruising is fantastic. So much to do... or nothing at all. There isn't a request you can make that the crew hasn't heard before and they have a hop to it attitude.
If you don't enjoy cruising, it's not their fault, it's yours.
What ship are you on? Where do you leave from? Where ya goin'?

(31,997 posts)I know hubby didn't count on Crohn's and all it's complications. We plan on living life to the fullest as long as I am able.
I just didn't think this was in the cards for us for a while because of the huge setback I had in 16-17
I am just so thankful for my family
