The Rude Pundit: The Chick-fil-A Thing Gets Even Stupider

If you sat there slack-jawed, watching this whole Chick-fil-A debacle get stupider and stupider and you thought, "Huh, what could make everyone involved seem that much worse?" Well, you could say that your prayers have been answered.

Yes, you might have seen the lines of cars and people trying to get the tasty chicken sandwich that is dressed with a urine-tasting pickle slice and, in celebration of Mitt Romney's political positions, waffle fries on V Fil-A Day. That was on Wednesday, when Mike Huckabee, who once wrote a book on eating healthy and losing weight, encouraged everyone who hates gay marriage and loves free speech to gorge on deep-fried food. You might have seen last night's hilarious cock-filled take on the whole episode on The Daily Show. But you might not have seen the prayer circles:

In the restaurants and in the parking lots, all over this great nation of ours, people held hands and prayed, not for the souls of the many, many fallen chickens, but for, well, fuck, who cares?

But lest you think that the non-haters have clean hands, here's Adam Smith, who, when not writing economic treatises, harassed the fuck out of some poor low-wage fast food jockey at a Tucson, Arizona, Chick-fil-A. In a move that obvious dickbag Smith hilariously thought of as his effort to "Stand up" to a corporation, he harangues a woman for not confronting her employer about its stand on gay marriage. Smith does not leave his car to, you know, enter the restaurant. In another glorious twist on free speech, his employer fired him.

Look, the Rude Pundit has boycotted products because of who is associated with them. He has never bought a Snapple because, when it was a small company not owned by Dr. Pepper, it advertised extensively on Rush Limbaugh's radio colonoscopy. He won't buy gas at BP because it ruined the Gulf of Mexico.

But you know what? We lost this one because we did everything that the right often does to publicize something and make it more popular. Chick-fil-A and its homophobic, Christ-fellating CEO made a shit-ton of money and will continue to for a while. And you know what they might do with that shit-ton of money? Perhaps fund more anti-gay rights efforts?

No one is clean here. You like going to the Coachella Music Festival, good West Coast activist hippies? Fuck you. It's owned and promoted by the Anschutz Corporation, whose CEO and founder gives millions to anti-gay marriage forces, far more than Chick-fil-A.

Why waste an ounce of energy kissing and marching outside Chick-fil-A? It's been an ultra-Christian joint since before most of the protesters were born. Instead, worry about changing the laws. Make out in front of members of Congress and state legislatures. And fuck the chicken.

was expose the face of hate. Sometimes you win just by making the haters stand up and be counted. They're much safer when they can pretend to be loving and kind, but when you make them put their money where their hate is, you get a better picture of what we're up against.

I saw tons of family on FB posting pictures of themselves proudly standing in line for a dried chicken sandwich so that they could stick it to the gays (I guess). Its been days now and they still wont shut up about it. My FB has become nothing more than an ignorant sounding board for the freaks in my life. I guess they cant be proud of Rmoney, so they'll rallly round a hateful sandwich.

Has the government tried to silence Mr Cathy?

Because that's what "freedom of speech" means, it has nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing but rather it bans the government from interfering with most private speech (death threats and some other well known examples excepted).

My roommate first said, "I don't care if gay people want to marry! Who cares what they do in their bedroom?" I replied, "You're right, people should be able to bump uglies with whomever they love, but everyone deserves the legal rights accorded by marriage, regardless of sexual orientation."

Later, my roommate said, "That man has the right to his opinion, just like everyone else!" I replied, "Just look at this deliberate distraction! We have dire economic distress, a do-nothing Congress, extreme drought over much of the nation, and countless other critical issues; yet, the M$M wants to distract us (ooh, look, it's a sparkly!) with this divisive, hate-mongering hot-button topic."

There's been no further discussion of Mr. Chick-fil-a in this house.

IMHO, Mr. Cathy will not reap any REAL benefits from his pitiable bigotry. And, those of us who will no longer support his business will continue to advocate for GLBT rights.

You can also tell your roommate that everyone who disagrees with the disgusting Mr. Cathy has a right to voice their opinion too. And that hate is not a protected religion. People speak out against hate and hateful people because it's the right thing to do.

I'm so tired of people from the gay community telling where I can/should eat at. I'm so grown and do what I want when I want like eating at Chick-Fil-A hahahahahahahahahhahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

As well as this one:

How Obama steals elections one at a time

In 1996 Obama and a team of lawyers eliminated all his rivals from the ballot including incumbent Alice Palmer - allowing him to run unopposed.

Obama filed objections to all four of his Democratic rivals. He was the first one to ever do so.

Dirty tactics is what Obama is all about - race baiting, organized caucus intimidation, and lies about everything from Nafta to what he knows about his own church and his own close friends.

And the last one I'll take time to post:

R.I.P. Andrew Breitbart (February 1, 1969 -- March 1, 2012).

boycotting Chick Fil A. Rude sounds like one of those guys who just can't hang. We don't need that kind of hung up late 60's mindset at all.
The same people who are protesting this hate company ARE changing the laws, without much help from the community the author belongs to. How can anyone claim the GLBT movement does not constantly seek to change the laws and has in fact changed more laws than any set of straight grand standers like this author. The straights, who accomplish almost nothing in their own political activism, always feel they hold some standing to tell those who accomplish much how they ought to be doing it more to their liking.
I mean, why does this author himself not go make out in front of Members of Congress if that's a tactic he thinks is so good? I wonder if he joined Dan Choi and the others who were arrested at the White House and on the Hill during the fight to repeal DADT, a law that actually got changed? I wonder if the author remembers that? It was a long, long time ago. Yeah, those gays, they have not changed a law for months now, shame on them!

---Marriage is defined as the union of one man and one woman in at least 42 states. Currently, 31 states have added amendments banning same-sex unions to their constitutions. There are currently eight states that recognize or will soon recognize same-sex marriages, and a total of six (plus the District of Columbia) that recognize some form of same-sex civil unions or domestic partnerships.---

Heavily advertising for some fast food outlet is a complete misdirection of outrage at the lack of equal rights in the U.S.. Organized religion is the biggest culprit and the whores we call politicians who cater to status quo. Chick-fil-A can be put out of business tomorrow and it won't do a goddamn thing to advance equal rights in the U.S..
