Roseanne Lashes Out At Former Cast Members: 'You Throw Me Under The Bus, Nice!'

by Joseph A. Wulfsohn | 5:49 am, May 30th, 2018

Roseanne Barr spent the early hours of Wednesday morning reacting to statements made by cast members of her now-cancelled hit show Roseanne.

Michael Fishman, who returned to the show as D.J. Conner, issued a lengthy statement in reaction to Roseanne’s racist tweet attacking former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett. Here’s a portion of Fishman’s statement:

Today is one of the hardest in my life. I feel devastated, not for the end of the Roseanne show, but for all those who poured their hearts and souls into our jobs, and the audience that welcomed us into their homes. Our cast, crew, writers, and production staff strived for inclusiveness, with numerous storylines designed to reflect inclusiveness. The words of one person do not exemplify the thinking of all involved.

Well, Roseanne had a sharp rebuke for Fishman, claiming he threw her “under the bus.”

Roseanne also reacted to Sara Gilbert‘s statement, who played her TV daughter Darlene Conner and was serving as an executive producer of the reboot.

Loyalty only goes so far when your livelihood has been completely derailed.

I do wish they'd revamp the show, sans Roseanne, and see if they can pick up a whole new audience. I didn't watch this version of the show but I understood that Dan was also a conservative. The show could easily still 'represent' both sides of the political spectrum but with a lower discomfort level. I didn't watch because I can't stand Roseanne Barr. I love the rest of the cast, but not enough to overlook, or move past, her acting and voice tone. Nails on a chalkboard would be a preferred alternative.

starts to see that her precious donald is actually NOT delivering on his promises, and times remain tough for her family, and she and Dan are probably facing losing their house ANYWAY.

Guess in that regard, at least Roseanne's TV family will be spared the harsh realities of the trump effect - unlike a whole lot of his real-life fans. I suspect some of them are gonna start waking up when they begin to notice that gas is more expensive, their health care costs are racing skyward with no let-up, and that fabulous raise that was anticipated never actually came.

The fact that most of the other actors didn’t make careers of playing one character but went on to have success as ACTORS, not personalities, says a lot about the talent of the leads on that show relative to its star.

Poor Roseanne; everyone's so mean to HER.

A note to the pooh-bahs of the entertainment industry: This is going to keep happening as long as you wink at past indiscretions and push people of dubious reputation forward. Get serious about racism, misogyny, rape culture, and other dehumanizing bigotry, because the American people are serious about it. The wiggle room is gone, and people are talking openly about what was whispered previously.

She suffered a brain injury in a car wreck, and people around her at the time said it changed her personality so much she was committed to the state hospital. It takes a LOT of professionals to put a show on the air, and members of several unions, and lots of other unsung heroes. They're all out of work because of your own stupidity and jerkitude. Hope they can fold in on other productions so they don't fall too far behind. The apology was a stand alone statement. And a reasonable one. If needed, Roseanne could have used the exact same words again. Same words just an apology. Perhaps if done enough times, it could have actually helped her. And maybe ...just maybe..she could have rebounded into another show...

...But NO, ...she attacks someone else. That wasn't smart. Roseanne should not have attacked anyone else. What she should have done, is apologize again, and again for her stupid comment. Each time in a way that is honest and truthful. If done enough, at some point, people would forgive her..

But she had to start the attacks again......clearly she isn't the brightest bulb around...But after she gets done with her last few attacks, her bulb will be turned off for good.

.... People really don't have time fur such a stupid bulb...

The natural fear and hostility within her, and millions of other conservatives, but also liberals to a much lesser degree, has been deliberately fostered and targeted to weaponize it.

Sure, Roseanne would have been the same person 30 years ago, but a better version of herself, not close to the worst.

We have to vote to break the right's power, to make sure we never see their worst version.

They believe that they have a social connection with liberal minded friends and that nothing that comes out of their mouth is going to endanger that relationship. I don't know why they would think so, but, there it is.

The only way to give them a wake up call is to either step up just like Gilbert and Fishman did, or grow distance in that relationship.

Do business with Roseann Barr at your own risk.

If she hasn't already, she'll lash out at John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf, the two actors who easily had the most successful careers independent of her and her sitcom. I'm sure she's going to try to take credit for all of their success.

"She has spewed out vile right wing hate and racism for years and years"..

ABC canceled Roseanne's show over a racist tweet. Her feed's been full of racism and conspiracy theories for a decade."

Even when she became known for her support of Donald Trump’s candidacy, her reasoning for the support wasn’t based on personal conservatism (she previously ran for president in 2012 as part of a far-left fringe political party) but on her belief that Hillary Clinton was corrupt and left-wing candidates like Bernie Sanders spend too much time with the pope, who she told an interviewer “owns almost every dollar in the world.” And her tweets about Clinton and those associated with the former secretary of state were unhinged, to put it mildly (many have since been deleted):

Jarrett also said Disney CEO Bob Iger called her personally to apologize and gave her advanced notice that Barr's eponymous show was being cancelled before it was announced publicly.

'First of all, I think we have to turn it into a teaching moment. I'm fine. I'm worried about all the people out there who don't have a circle of friends and followers coming to their defense,' Jarrett said during the town hall.

'The person walking down the street minding their own business and they see someone clinging to their purse or walk across the street... or every black parent I know who has a boy who has to sit down and have a conversation, the talk as we call it,' she continued.

'Those ordinary examples of racism that happen every single day.
