@SenSchumer
Memo to the press: When you quote the president saying spygate, it is only fair to immediately follow that by noting there is absolutely no evidence of a spy being inserted in his campaign. It seems to me, failure to do so is a disservice to your readers, viewers & the country.

A tweet, to the press asking them to be "fair". What more could one possibly ask for?
Such strength. Such fortitude. Such a clear message right to the people!

I guess the next one in the box is that woman who is "too old" to be Minority Leader/Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

(15,649 posts)that there is absolutely no evidence of a spy being inserted in his campaign. He needs to say that they are aiding and abetting! "It is only fair" sounds like something my kids would cry that's not fair when they complained about not getting as big a serving of desert.
Schumer is right on and he is, as always, a great gentleman. But we need strong language, not just the correct general sentiment if we want people to hear the sentiment.

(13,305 posts)Twitter is just one large, insular circle jerk used mostly by politicians and the media. Unless the media is going to report on the tweets like they do with Trump (spoiler alert: They are not going to) then tweets about issues are mostly pointless yelling into a cavern.
And yes, you are right we need strong language. The Republicans have morphed into a party filled with Donald Trumps and we are still trying to fight that by being the party of Tip O'Neil.
This tweet reads like a caricature/cartoon of the bullied liberal crying about things not being fair rather than just fighting back.

(2,697 posts)Schumer tweets and . . .who cares?
What's needed is for Schumer to spend his Sunday mornings in front of microphones and media cameras, preferably outside the Capitol Building, telling the media and anyone else within air shot that Trump is lying,
--- that Trump's people and possibly Trump himself worked with Russian and other foreign agents to secure his victory
over Mrs. Clinton
--- that the entire apparatus that passes for the Trump Administration is devoted to enriching the Trump family at the
expense of the American people and the peoples of the world,
--- that the "Tax Cut" law is a fraud levied on the American people with the chief purpose of further enriching the 1%-ers
who are Trump's most loyal -- and profitable supporters,
- --- that until we see his tax returns we can safely assume he has paid fewer taxes than the working poor that his
administration and kowtowing Congress disdain so publicly,
--- that he is no more a "christian" than is the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, (maybe Shumer might be better
advised not to go after Trump's false christianity -- but it's a thought)
--- that the Mr. Mueller's investigation is ongoing and while it has not issued its findings as yet, that is simply because it is
an ongoing investigation (DUH!),
--- and that this week we can carefully go over his and his administration's lies [and then proceed to list in detail].
Why the Dems don't do this beats hell out of me. If Trump gets screen time with his manic tweets, I should think Senator Shumer (and other Dems!) could also seize a little screen-time by issuing statements about Trump's lies, broken promises, dodges and persiflages.
End of rant.

(16,937 posts)We need a Democrat to do the same as Michael Avenatti has been doing - responding to every little bit of BULLSHIT that is uttered by IQ45 and his minions.
They say 1 word - we respond with 1.
They say a whole page of BULLSHIT, we respond with facts!
KEEP fighting - don't lay back and expect that people "know" the truth.
THIS must keep happening until November - and then GET OUT THE VOTE!!!!!!

(842 posts)It is simple.
Whenever the word "spygate" comes up....STOP! Without hesitation say, "This is NOT about spying, it is about LYING!"
Then, continue to make your point.
Now is that so difficult?
(OUR voices are what Schumer is waiting for!) Do your part.

(13,305 posts)..and brings up spygate I'll be sure to do that. But in the meantime It's the job of the people getting interviewed on tv to do that. And it's the job of our elected officials to make sure they are getting on tv to say those things.

(2,531 posts)run on open, televised hearings ala the Watergate and Iran-Contra hearings. This is the only way for the public to know what is really going on, sans the spin, lies and subterfuge. See how fast trump stops squawking about "spy-gate" then.
