Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen: Harry Reid's source.

Mitt Romney's response, after days of silence, was to demand from Harry Reid that he come forward with the name of his source.

So, who do you think it is?
AND
How many hours will it take, once the name is out, until Fox News and Rush Limbaugh start with the name-calling and character-assassination?

My guess:
First question: I have no idea who it was, but I've heard a very interesting speculation that it was someone from McCain's campaign-team.
Second question: 6 hours.

He was the ultimate insider in the McCain campaign who is now outside the Repug bubble (as an MSNBC political analyst).

he probably said to Harry one day, 'that son of a bitch didn't pay taxes for ten years! and he thought he should be on my ticket. God, then I had to go with our fall back plan and you saw how that went."

It's not a denial about Romney's past tax history. It's about Mitt trying to maintain control and claim victim-hood.

This ploy has some popular appeal in the US because it stems from the English law tradition of being able to face your accuser.

The republican base is motivated to rise to this appeal and they will try to make this an issue about what they will call baseless accusations.

The Romney opposition needs to continue to call for the years of tax-records, and not validate Romney's appeal to victimization.

tax files, gave them to Vladimir Putin (who is PO'd at rMoney), and he gave them to Harry Reid. If rMoney doesn't like it, he can take it up with the mob.

...and it doesn't matter. The only thing that does is why Willard isn't releasing Tax returns and what's he trying to hide. It's asking the questions that matter and should be asked over and over.

Of course the right wing and corporate media will bully...playing the McCarthyism game of naming names but does it really matter? Discredit the source all you want, the underlying question remains. What's in Willard's tax returns he's trying to hide???

or McCain himself. He hates Willard. For that matter, Jon Huntsman may have known something about his fellow Mormon. And he hates Willard too. But I'd bet someone close to the McCain campaign.

So it seems unlikely that it is anyone we have ever heard of. I have no guess.
