The creators of Sesame Street dont want to have a hand in Melissa McCarthys new movie The Happytime Murders.
The Sesame Workshop is suing the production company behind the R-rated film, which was directed by Brian Henson, the son of Sesame Street puppeteer Jim Henson, claiming the raunchy movie could cause irreparable injury to the shows brand, according to a lawsuit obtained by The Blast.
In their complaint, the Sesame Street creators claim that the films tagline, No Sesame, All Street, leads audiences to believe there is a connection to the show.
The films trailer, the say, deliberately confuses consumers into mistakenly believing that Sesame is associated with, has allowed, or has even endorsed or produced the movie and tarnishes Sesames brand.

This sucks. But freedom of speech includes protection for obnoxious speech.
Not that I would think there are any consumers out there who would associate copulating puppets with the Sesame Street show.
