Question: can US States apply for sponsorship for Green Cards

for it's undocumented workers? This might stop ICE from raiding it's businesses and protecting these good people.

USCIS (customs & immigration) are federal functions. I don't think states would ever have the authority to issue geen cards, which grant legal/permanent residency.

However, states being able to issue state-specific, limited-duration temporary work visas, is an interesting idea.

States rights, anyone?
