During an interview on NPR, Schlapp was confronted about his wife, Mercedes Schlapp, the White House director of strategic communications, after she defended staffer Kelly Sadlers so-called joke about McCain dying. Sadler was quoted as saying McCains opposition to Trumps nominee for CIA director doesnt matter because hes dying of brain cancer.
In all candor, Kelly does report to her, Schlapp admitted. And I think Kelly acknowledged that the words she used in this meeting that the words she used were unfortunate and called Meghan McCain immediately to apologize.
Schlapp failed to note that McCains daughter asked Sadler to publicly apologize but she has refused to do so. Instead, he argued that bigger issue is that staffers are leaking details of White House meetings.
The bigger issue the White House has is that they cant have confidential meetings without people on their own staff leaking it, Schlapp opined. And that is a mortal threat to the success of this agenda.

(56,829 posts)Back in the 1990s, when Rush Limbaugh made a joke about then teenager Chelsea Clinton being the "president's dog," Limbaugh's staff said they were attempting to make a joke and a picture of her came up by mistake.
So, Franken's question in his book was if it was the wrong slide, what was the joke supposed to be?
I find that works very well when people were saying so-and-so was making a joke - what was the joke supposed to be? (Hint, it was not meant as a joke - it was supposed to be an insult)

(82,849 posts)That about sum it up, Matt? That's hardly a reason for getting all upset at the media, though. If you're truly angry about it, though, maybe you and your wife could spend some time figuring out who blabbed Kelly's little joke to the media. Seems like not everyone in the room was her friend.

You have let yourself get so bloated and ugly, she might be in the market for a new model, maybe a Paul Ryan republican, all buff and muscled and eyeing a lucrative job outside of a losing coming up election.
You know, she would just tell the judge you were dying anyway.
