"When one is accustomed to privilege equality feels like oppression"

Angry young white men, the “incel rebellion” and an age of worldwide reaction
White supremacists, online misogynists and the rise of the far right: How to fight a rising tide of resentment

https://www.salon.com/2018/05/12/angry-young-white-men-the-incel-rebellion-and-an-age-of-worldwide-reaction/

Women should keep ignoring them.... She know she is no longer willing to be treated like a possession!!!

whether it’s alt-right white supremacists marching in Charlottesville with their tiki torches, misogynist “incels” and men’s rights activists who believe feminism is the root of all their problems, or Islamic extremists who aim to restore the caliphate, one thing is constant: they are overwhelmingly male.

It is hardly surprising that men are more susceptible to the allure of reactionary politics, considering that it's much easier for men to romanticize the past than it is for women (or any previously oppressed or mistreated group, such as LGBTQ people). Patriarchy has long been the norm in Western and non-Western societies and cultures, and thus women are less inclined to feel nostalgic for some “golden age” in history when they were treated as second-class citizens.
Needless to say, in America there is another important factor that increases the likelihood of one adopting a reactionary political ideology: being white. This was evidenced in a recent Pew Research Center analysis, which found that although millennials are the most progressive generation (and lean overwhelmingly Democratic), white male millennials are more more likely to support the Republican Party.

Women are tired of the frequency of being beaten, mutilated, and having her children raped and families being mass killed, because the men can't any longer have the "privilege and dominance" that was once promoted in America.

This victim mentality that many white men have developed today stems in part from what sociologist Michael Kimmel has called “aggrieved entitlement,” which he describes as “that sense of entitlement that can no longer be assumed and that is unlikely to be fulfilled.”

“There are still many in this generation of men who feel cheated by the end of entitlement,” Kimmel writes in his book “Angry White Men: American Masculinity at the End of an Era.” “They still feel entitled, and thus they identify socially and politically with those above them, even as they have economically joined the ranks of those who have historically been below them.”

While Trump has never had a clear political ideology, he personifies a bitter reactionary anger that so many white males have come to feel in a society where women, people of color and sexual minorities are finally being granted equal rights and opportunities. “When one is accustomed to privilege equality feels like oppression,” and today more and more white men in America (and Europe) feel as if they are being oppressed by egalitarian forces like feminism, multiculturalism, gay rights and the like.

They need to learn how to live in society, and set their mind to doing their own work, and not expecting to profit off of the labors of others, and stop thinking that women need to submit to him, because he is white and may have money.

Yes, that 400+ yrs of being trained to be a user and abuser, is coming to a head... and they can't deal with it, they can't deal with equality.

No one is going to go backwards in society, just to appease the weak minded self consumed delusions as if everyone should pander to them, because of their skin. IF they can't cope with reality and equality, its their own fault. The long history of savagery upon and against women and POC... is no more and not women nor minorities will tolerate it. The Liberal Minded white man, WILL NO LONGER accept being Intimidated by these types of think they should have privilege above others, and women should submit to them and being their house cleaner, main and sex object.

These members of dominant groups are more prone to reactionary politics because they are likely to feel their status and privilege being threatened.

They should have learned how to live in the world with others and respect others with a sense of human equality, but they were incapable of being of such humane civility.

One of the more disturbing and pitiful reactionary group to emerge in the digital age has been the “incels,” or involuntary celibates, who were thrust into the national spotlight last month after the terrorist attack in Toronto, committed by a self-described member of the “Incel rebellion.” The incel community, which congregates on websites like Reddit and 4Chan, is deeply sexist and misogynistic, and its members blame women for their inability to find sexual partners. Incels feel an “aggrieved entitlement,” and believe that women owe them sex.

Incels are just one tiny facet of the much larger reactionary trend in America and around the world. Young men are becoming radicalized by reactionary ideologies at an alarming rate, and the success of Trump and right-wing populists in Europe suggests that we are living in an age of reaction. As the most extreme reactionaries begin to use violence and other dangerous tactics to advance their political agenda, it is important to understand what has driven this reactionary trend.

Obviously those who feel this kind of malaise are liable to embrace reactionary politics if they become convinced that they would have been better off in the past, while those who do not suffer from golden-age syndrome are more likely to embrace the left. One way to challenge the reactionary mentality is to debunk the romantic depiction of the past and offer a more accurate and cogent critique of the modern world

Yes, I've written some more realistic critique of the modern world, and some in this site love to try to attack and bury the post of try and get it removed, because they don't want to see or face the truth, or lean more.

All this group of mad men and fools is showing is: these bigoted and biased racist and misogynists can't respect other people with a sense of equality.

“The anger of the middle-class white Americans is real,” he continues, but its aim “is misdirected not towards those who they think are the cause of their misery but against those who are just below them on the economic ladder.”

God knows how to flip the script in time .... so, all the centuries of their haughtiness, delusion pride and gluttony and bigotry, is now showing how their vile was never going to last forever, and now, they can't deal with the fact that people are no longer submitting to the malice they took such delight trying to impose upon other.

Its good women are no longer accepting them expecting her to owe them sex, because he's white and male. and general society is no longer giving him a free ride and first access to everything, because he's a white male.

Get in the Equality Line, just like everyone else is doing, and shut up.... That's the real answer. and learn to respect others.

the young white males just as well Get Over the delusion that women are desperate for him; and accept the fact that women can find a man in the multicultural world, and they are doing so, because they know... they no longer have to accept being degraded, and put upon, used and treated like a sex toy, and discarded the minute she shows signs of natural aging, when women now are more certain in knowing they can find men of many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds from many difference races, who will treat them as a human being and respect their individualism and equality as a person and not see them as some object and men who won't assume her as being his possession.

The job market is no longer like the pre 1960's, the world knows that jobs can be done by more people than just white men, so now... women and minorities are able to get jobs and perform as well, and many may even perform with a more focused level of involvement, because they don't feel entitled to jobs as once white men felt such entitlement; other ethnic men and women feel a sense of appreciation and responsibility to do the job they sign up to do, and they don't concern themselves with feeling entitled to the job. They want to earn their way by being a equal person who can independently contribute. Now, other cultural and ethnic people are demanding to be paid the fair and equitable wage for doing those jobs.

"writer and teacher Clay Shirky" is who I found, didn't look further.

So true. That progression requires loss, loss creates anxiety. And large numbers of people never do think, they just react. Especially when anxious.

Sigh, different but not so much, an in-law told me yesterday that cats suck the breath from people, killing the vulnerable. In 2018. I know pop culture is currently pushing Dark Ages imaginings over Enlightenment thinking, deriding science as stupid and obstructive to understanding. But REALLY?!

American white man dominance, and the world keeps telling him to go "f--- off" !!!! as does many of the America Liberal and Democratic minded people too, tell him the same thing !!!!

He has tried to attack anything Obama achieved and now trying to play ' strong arm white man tactic's with the world', and nations are telling him in every way they can, that the world is not going for that crap anymore.
Pulling out of the Iran deal was an aim to attack work Obama did, and show disrespect and lack of concern for diplomacy to Iran, and the Iranians are saying... "Screw you, and you white man madness"... they are working their agreements with the rest of the world, the same thing with Kim and S. Korea, they are saying by Kim's actions, to heck with submitting to American white male threats, they are moving ahead with unifying their nation, between N.& S. and they will achieve what they set out to achieve, in doing so... China, Russia and Many other Nations will be there to support the building of industry in N. Korea and N. Korea will work with them to do so.

China has for the past 2 decades been telling America, that they are not going to submit themselves to any more Western American white man dictations, and they are not going to diminish themselves, so he can pump up his ego and stomp all over them. The Middle East has been saying the same for decades, and now... once the Bush created madness finds means to taper down, they too will move on and build their relations with the rest of the world.
We can expect to see Mexico and Central America make better cooperative relations with China and Others, because they know they don't have to sit and wait on the American White Man Racism and Bigotry to help them, they can find it from and with nations that respect Diplomacy and Respect People as Equal Human Beings. Recent Trump insults to Mexican people does not sit well with the people of Mexico or any other of the Latin American People.
The world saw the madness and disrespect show to Puerto Rico, and that is not done with, as the Puerto Rician people will find their way and they will make agreements with nations that respect them with equality as human beings. China will like be more than willing to help them in a cooperative mutual benefit agreement. I'd not be surprised to see likewise efforts by other nations to help Haiti as well in ways that American has ignored to do, since the days it could no longer use them for the sugar cane profits of the past. The world is changing and doing so for the better of all people.

Japan showed a few decades ago, that their women would no longer swoon over American White Men, and Now China has its footing and the Chinese Women are no longer willing to swoon over an American White Man, because they know they can be as equal as anyone, and they have men in their country and from other countries who see them as individuals and respect them as a person, not some "submissive sex object". the whole of the world is now wise to the madness, and they are not pandering to the white male expectations and the delusion of privilege in the white man self concept. They once did not know much about the difference in the Conservative Right Wing Minded white males and the Liberal Minded White Males, and if they choose to be with a white man, they are more likely to choose a Liberal Minded man, be that man black or white or other.

White women know they can adopt kids, have kids and raise them by themselves, they can find a mate from any race and ethnicity they want, and they can choose other women if they want, and will do so, before they fall back into the old pattern of being treated like a possession and object.

society can't keep up with the game of covert discrimination, by claiming to use the "loaded word" Qualified, to discredit minority men, by conjuring up fake criterion, that does not equally apply to white men, and in every field minority men are demonstrating not only are the capable, skilled and motivated and willing, they are demonstrating they do the work, and they do it without feeling some fiction of entitlement, as if he is guaranteed the job just because he's male. Tech will have to open the doors to minority males, and when they do, it will be like everything else once the white male discrimination is removed, the minority males will move into these jobs and bring their skills and their innovations.

The world is moving on from the Ignorance of the Past.... no matter how much these right wing white males want to try and recreate the past. The only thing these types of regressive white people will find is, 'the same crying song they cried about "being left behind".... they were not left behind... they were lulled into expecting privilege and privileged access and privileged accommodation, and in doing so, they took themselves backwards trying to cling to that... now they want to cry victim, because they chose to run backwards and then cry victim again, claiming they were left behind.. when they chose to keep running backwards trying to recreate the past. Trump play on their victim fiction and made ven greater fools of them, while he ripped them off.

Just as LBJ said: they again proved it true.

President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."
Trump set up and picked their pockets clean with his tax bill and they tried to push the kill some people Republican health care insult upon the American people.... As Trump said, he loved the uneducated!!!

Are white men generally more "misogynist" then men of other races? I realize that there are cultural as well as racial variables that impact exactly how misogynist groups of men may be, so that is a factor also. Still to the extent that comparing apples to apples applies, are white men who were born and raised in American more misogynistic than black or Asian men also born and raised in America?

I think it's clear that white men on the whole have a greater sense of "entitlement" then most men of other races in America, which has dangerous economic as well as racial ramifications. And I think it fairly obvious that a relatively high proportion of the "Super Rich" men in America (who tend to be white) think most people are not as worthy of having their personal needs, sexual or otherwise, met as they themselves are. But there is a perverse dynamic in racism whereby some poor whites take comfort from believing that they are superior to blacks, even though they realize that they are lodged near the bottom of society's pecking order. Some oppressed people do try to boost their self esteem either by looking down on others, or by attempting to identify with those who hold more power than they do. So it is entirely possible for males of races other than white to be misogynistic toward women.

Above it was posited: " the young white males just as well Get Over the delusion that women are desperate for him; and accept the fact that women can find a man in the multicultural world...

... they no longer have to accept being degraded, and put upon, used and treated like a sex toy, and discarded the minute she shows signs of natural aging, when women now are more certain in knowing they can find men of many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds from many difference races, who will treat them as a human being and respect their individualism and equality as a person and not see them as some object and men who won't assume her as being his possession."

I agree that women increasingly know that they can seek intimacy and respect from partners of many races, white women for example are not limited to white male partners, they can look for real love wherever they find it. Power imbalances in general tend to feed abusive relationships. Most of the most powerful people in Europe and America are white men and indeed those are they types who, for example, are prone to trade in "trophy wives" for the latest youngest model. But leaving aside ruling class males for a second, are typical working and middle class white men more likely to degrade women, use them as sex toys etc. than men of other races?

Women were not considered a person, as she was not allowed to vote, own property or in some cases to work. The manufactured nature of "dependency" was established in the early America by those who create the slavery, segregation and such.

If one looks at the Movie the... "The Help" and take not to how the white women looked down at the young white woman who was not married and had got a job at the local paper... as most of the other women "did not work" it was groomed in that their role even after graduating colleges was primarily to find "a man".

This kind of stuff gave men a power based on a created condition, and that condition was imposed upon women, as a measure of whether she was worthy or not worthy.

On the other hand, black women have 'always worked" and worked in conjunction with the man, they were not raised nor was the conditions upon her as if she did not have to work, and she was not placed in a situation where she was measured so much by whether she relied on a man for household maintenance, Yet, the ramification of slavery and the repressions of segregation played a great part in how the conditions of economic shaped much. In some cases, the man had to leave the home, due to not being able to find suitable and equitable work, just so the woman could get assistance, that was a means to avoid his family starving. There are many dynamic's at play within history.
But even in the earliest days of America's history in the advent of slavery, black men and women had a sense of equal input in the household and the struggles to maintain the household.

Black men are far less likely to come home and kill the whole family, because he runs out of money. They did not need everything fancy to feel the need to make their house feel like a home. Nor was the black women put in a position to be like a mantle show piece, she had voice and she embraced her work and duty as mother and wife "and worker" for the family.

IF white women during slavery said anything about the white man out raping the slaves at night, she would risk everything and be cast out, and in a society where she was not allowed to own property, and in many cases not allowed to work, her means were intertwined in maintaining a position in the role as if she was a possession of the white man, and if he discarded her, she was relegated to be even less and still not considered as a person. She still could not vote and had no voice in civic matters or the policy making matters of white men.

History has lots of details which connect to why these men are lusting for a return of the past and caught into a want of fictional madness of a folklore fictional past, where he was master over everything including women.
Right winger still this day, push every way they can to control a woman's own body.

Thee is a clear cut reason why the march continues by women for equality in living, and equal respect as person, including the fight against being seen as a disposable object for pleasure based on her body shape, facial image and age. Women are now telling of the sexual abuses they once were unable to speak about. Women on college campuses are no longer silent about campus rapes and other gender discrimination, and they are not submitting to be dominated by males as if she is to be his possession.
