What Is Driving Me Crazy Is The SeeSawing Of This Whole Trump Investigation.....

One day we hear that Trump is on the ropes. Cohen will flip. Manafort is in deep trouble. Flynn lied to the FBI and is cooperating. Trump Jr. & Jarad are going to jail. Trump can't get a reputable law firm to work for him. Guiliani is on his way out before he even got a foothold in. Stormy Daniels will be Trump's undoing. Cohen was in Prague. Trump is acting like a mob boss. Kelly calls him an idiot. etc, etc, etc,

And then we hear the Trump's poll numbers are going up. The job numbers are up. Trump is up for a Nobel Peace Prize. Our allies love Trump. A Manafort judge says Mueller is overstepping his bounds. He's the healthiest person ever to hold the presidency. Kelly says Trump has accomplished so much in the last 15 months. And on and on and on.

Every time you think that we're seeing the last days of a Trump presidency and our spirits our raised - the opposite seems to happen to and it takes the wind out of our spirits.

I can't take this up and down, day to day seesawing anymore. I can't stand to see or listen to Trump. He acts more and more guilty with every utterance from his mouth. Yet nothing seems to crush him and he keeps up this facade that he is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I just can't take these wide daily swings. We all know that he is a consummate liar. The late night comedians make fun of him on a daily basis - but it's not even funny anymore. This guy is doing so much damage to our country and government let alone the psyche of every American - we'll never recover. The thought of him being above the law and being able to get away with all the crap that he's pulled is disgusting. I don't thing the American People can take much more of this.

I recommend ignoring everything but hard news.

The only real hard news can come from Mueller holding a press meeting and saying he has enough evidence to summon a grand jury to indict tRump. So far Mueller has said nothing!

What we read in media is hardly the hard news. The OP has studiously listed all the conflicting media news items.

I try to vet what’s going on. The news comes so fast, it’s hard to keep track of what is important and what isn’t. Trump is a disgusting bigot, but he is a very good self promoter, and while I believe he’s in very real legal trouble, I don’t believe he will be removed from office or see more consequences than fines. Things like the novel peace prize is just grandstanding noise. The US is a powerful entity and other countries are of course going to deal with us, just as we deal with distasteful leaders of other countries

The only way out is to vote Democratic and encourage other to vote for Democrats. This is not a very fun water slide ride, I must say.

Think about what we've survived in the past, all of which at the time felt to many as unsurvivable. The deadliest day in our history was at Gettysburg where we fought among ourselves to define democracy. We've looked at the specter of having a president above the law and decided with certainty that was not going to happen in this country. Now we're looking at a narcissistic illiterate inhabiting the highest office in the land looking to mob-up the executive branch. We survived the first two and I'm confident we'll survive the third...I'm just sure it will be pretty.

During Watergate, Nixon had his "wins"...he had his good days and there were days it looked like he was going to skate. The ups/downs and waves of each side feeling like they had the upper hand — all that is tempered through the 45 years of history since. Looking back at it might feel like there was an orderly march toward justice but my personal recollection is that is far from the truth.

I agree with you that I don't think the American People can take much more of this and I would add...I don't think the American People WILL take more of this. And while I have no confidence in the WH these days, I do have confidence in those American People and the fact that there are more than a few intelligent voters who have sat out an election or two...and I see them roaring back with a vengeance after seeing where we've landed without them.

Just my humble opinion and mantra to stay sane.

The Congress we have now is an entirely different animal than that of Nixon's time.

The Republicans we have now are either blatantly corrupt or spineless chicken-shits afraid to say anything.
There are treasonous hacks like Devin Nunes, Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows and others who are threatening to defy the Constitution and the laws of the land. They want Mueller fired and any investigation stopped.

In today's environment, I don't see a Republican delegation delivering the news to Trump that he has lost the support of Congress and would be impeached as Goldwater did.

I'm trying to be patient, but I'm really frightened. This is how democracies die.
