Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI didn't watch the WHCD, and based my initial comments were based on what some characterized
as "over the top" from Michelle Wolf, and concern that it might generate sympathy for trump and company, but after viewing it later I have to say she was brilliant.
As someone has said we are NOT living in normal times
Michelle Wolf was just what was needed for the country at the right time, and the outrage expressed by some of the recipients of her criticism only proves that point

....the biting criticism in her jokes was generally a bull's-eye
the really bad joke was the Southwest Airline joke that wasn't even aimed at a politician/journalist. I bet she'd re-word the abortion joke too if given a 2nd opportunity emphasizing the mistress part which was great. But again the politician/journalists deserved everything she dished out.

(6,378 posts)4. I'm not sure if was Seinfeld or Shandling who said...
"A great comedy routine is like a great championship tennis match. Even the winner has shots they with they could take again, and if they don't they weren't pushing hard enough".
That's a paraphrase - I'm pretty sure I heard Seinfeld say it but it might have been in that special on Gary Shandling where he was quoting it.
Agree with you on the SW joke. I think it got caught up in the How Broke is He call/response and the timing was off. The abortion joke just landed flat, might have been concept, might have been delivery. Just flat. (LOL - I say this like I could somehow come close to the game she's playing).
Anyway - it's a good point. She took it to the edge and got hung on it a few times. Not a bad ratio vs. the comments that hit the mark.
