General Discussion

If you can't take the same crap you dish out, then shut your mouth. End of story.
Can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
I can go on. I think the point is made that conservatives can't handle being ridiculed for the shit they've done, but not just them. That includes the media that created tRump and his rabid base.
I hope this is a start to dems and others to start hitting back with force. I'm sorry but the time of taking the high road is over. Only way to beat them is to beat them at their own game, but not with lies. With cold, hard facts.
Much love this Sunday.

That's fine if that is what you want to endorse, but don't pretend it's not going low. Look at Michelle Obama's full quote - when someone acts like a bully, you don't stoop to their level.

(5,022 posts)I don't want to make an assumption here. Are you saying that stating the truth can still be going low if you do it in a bullying way or are you saying you felt that Michelle Wolf's speech was going low?
If the latter, follow up questions: Is a roast always going low? Is roasting the WH, the WHC, and the WH spokesperson being a bully?
I'm not saying I agree or disagree, just trying to understand your perspective.

(1,000 posts)This was a roast not a campaign event. Michelle is not a politician, she is a comedian. Comedy is one of our best tools against the lying, cheating, bigoted perverts that have stolen the government of the United States.
I enjoyed her comedy and accept it for what it was.

Why are you guys making this about Sarahs looks? I said she burns facts and uses the ash to create a *perfect* smoky eye. I complimented her eye makeup and her ingenuity of materials.

@morningmika
Watching a wife and mother be humiliated on national television for her looks is deplorable. I have experienced insults about my appearance from the president. All women have a duty to unite when these attacks happen and the WHCA owes Sarah an apology.

(13,362 posts)First, as someone who identified as a journalist for years, the whole WHCD is actually pretty cool, the scholarships, and opening statement about First Amendment make me proud.
Second, for folks to have so much angst over a 19-minute roast is ridiculous. The event itself was 3 HOURS long...
And finally, as you said, this BS behavior of the right and even dems has been going on for YEARS. OH! and NOW they are butthurt because someone actually spoke truth and burned them openly for it?
fuck you pussies!

(3,426 posts)His half hour rant . They called it a stream of consciousness. There was no stopping him, butting in,getting a word in edge wise or questing his ever changing train of thought. On in continuous for somewhat more in time than Michelle Wolf last evening. Trump's version of pay back by paying forward. You would wonder what the hell compels Trump to do and say the things he does and says. I don't , seems pretty clear to me. I suppose if you expected some kind of light hearted humor ,you may have been somewhat stunned.
Yet not so long ago during his campaign it was Trump playing the media like a fiddle ,wasn't it ? Playing or being played like a fiddle fits neatly into Trump's vocabulary and he gains gratification by it. After all he thought of it himself and acted it out.

(24,311 posts)But to be honest, I wasn't fond of her timing and delivery. Her voice seemed droning and very monotone to me. But still, very funny. The Irony is that I think Obama could have delivered the material better.
If we absolutely want to nail Trump at this kind of event, I would love to see Kathy Griffin be the host. Trump's head would explode, along with many of his deplorables.

So, rather than employ playground rules, why not engineer a comprehensive strategy?
Stop thinking emotionally. We're all mad, but seeking simple retribution won't win awards or offices.

(37,748 posts)I think if anyone is thinking emotionally, it's the guy who doesn't realize what the job of a comedian is.
Let's stop pretending that a comedian doing her job is merely "playground rules," it serves you poorly.
We are, as you said, "smarter," no?
