@robreiner
I attended the WHCD last night. Donald Trump has so poisoned the atmosphere by attacking the disabled, gold star parents, Muslims, Mexicans, Blacks, women, the press, the rule of law that a comedian who simply tells the truth is offensive? Shes joking. Hes not.

(6,598 posts)so what does he know? Honestly, I had no idea so many people do not even understand the concept of a comedy roast, now that's what I find shocking.

(6,598 posts)I laughed - repeatedly, but then I expected a roast. Clearly, many don't watch Stephen Colbert's show at night, where he goes after tRump with a chainsaw on a nightly basis.

(25,955 posts)I support it wholeheartedly, and even though I am upset & at times alarmed at events since Cheeto Benito has occupied the People's house, I'm not gonna walk around all day like someone peed in my Wheaties. I will express my contempt and disrespect in any manner I see fit.

(46,752 posts)Including the press. Hiding the flaws of our politicians just to build them up, and then tear them down later, when the obvious catastrophe occurs.
This roller coaster with the media has to stop. It's just not good for America. That said, they need to finish what they helped start.

(3,546 posts)But I remember the line when Jack Nicholson said, " you can't handle the truth," can't be said enough for the media we have now.

(15,805 posts)they just didn't like what they saw staring back at them. Truth is a harsh mistress, we say we love her, we embrace her, but when she points out our warts we run off to pose dramatically on our brocade upholstered fainting couch, pretending to be wounded to the quick.

(29,690 posts)CNN analyst Joan Walsh compared it to Stephen Colbert's 2006 stand-up act at the dinner, when Colbert challenged then-president Bush and members of the media.
"The crowd is scandalized (even some liberals), but a lot of people see it as the right reaction to the scandal that is @realDonaldTrump," Walsh tweeted.

Comedians can say "for entertainment purposes only".
Government executives and legislators cannot.
