'My God - that's just ridiculous!': Republican smacked down after blaming Obama for Ronny 'Candyman'

‘My God — that’s just ridiculous!’: Republican smacked down after blaming Obama for Ronny ‘Candyman’ Jackson

Donald Trump threatened Sen. Jon Tester at his Michigan rally on Saturday night, saying that he could reveal things about the Democratic senator that would lead to him never getting elected again.

Carrie Sheffield, who is an editor for a conservative media watch organization, tried to blame Obama for not properly vetting this nominee.

Her point:if the “Candy Man” really was handing out pills without proper exams and engaged in drunken antics, why wasn’t he thrown out of the White House by the former president? CNN political commentator Joan Walsh was not having it.

“It’s not the former administration’s job to vett the current administrator’s nominee, in any realm of reality,” she said. “My God, Carrie, that’s just ridiculous.”

but I do wonder how true some of the allegations are given that the Obama Administration clearly had no idea any of it was going on. I imagine there is some truth here but how knows how much.

If he was that incompetent, he'd have been spotted. After all, in one case it might have been the president's life that was at risk. In another, the president and aides or appointees would be accepting illegally issued drugs (the claim goes) and then using illegally obtained drugs. Both giving them out and using them are crimes. Nobody wants to finish the train of thought though.

Jackson was the WH physician; those trips where he doled out drugs without a prescription continued a practice that, others have claimed, goes back to at least the Clinton administration. Then there's the problem with the complaint that doctors are allowed to fill prescriptions; those complaining seem to think that if the president needs a prescribed drug, he must be examined, be asked where he wants to pick up his prescription, wait for it to be filled at the local CVS or Walgreens, and then send somebody over to pick it up. That's how those complaining need to do it. (Even congressfolk don't have physicians on staff.) On the other hand, I've had doctors give me samples of prescription drugs that they had around, and in an instance or two the doctor didn't give out a free sample but actually filled the prescription on site. No separate pharmacist that time.

Hard to know what's true and what's not when winning the debate at pretty much any price is the goal.

different vetting processes, and what the media intentionally blurs is that multiple administrations kept the same WH Doctor, Jackson on board.

The head of the VA is a nomination that needs to be approved by Congress. Entirely different process, with entirely different duties.

but then again the false equivalency bullshit is standard operating procedure, which is effectively a way to distort and misrepresent things
