Let it percolate a bit and then let's reassess . . . . .

I am talking about Michelle Wolf's performance last night.

The right, of course, is feigning outrage. Never mind that they have said much worse for many years. No, for many decades. Who remembers Limbaugh going after little girl Chelsea Clinton? Was the birther thing worth a bit of outrage?

The media is in many ways complicit even as they posture as neutral. Who recalls, as but one example among hundreds, Joe Brzezinski and Mika Scarborough giving a certain loudmouth birther a microphone every morning while giving him behind the scenes political advice as he ran for president? Anybody?

So last night a comic gave a lot of it back in a single session.

And some on the left wring hands and warn of giving the right ammunition against us?

WHAAAAT?

People, they have been pounding our heads into the pavement and then kicking our teeth for YEARS!

You want to fight or you want to be reasonable?

I want to win. And that starts with getting our base more than fired up. Get our base righteously PISSED THE FUCK OFF.

Stand UP or stand DOWN.

These are your choices.

Pull up your big girl/boy pants and get on with it.

Was last night the right thing?

I don't know, honestly. I think it was. It felt good to me. It felt right. It felt like what I have been wanting for quite some time. Not a rapier to the cheek to draw a stripe of blood. More like a broadsword swing to THEIR necks for a change.

Fuck the snowflakes.

It is with those on the left complaining about the crudeness.

Michelle Obama is to be respected, but the use of the "if they go low..." every time weakens what she said. Yet many on the left use that as a bat to hit others over the head when someone does something out of their comfort zone.

As a general rule, you take the high road, but sometimes you need to drop down in the gutter with them, kick their ass, roll them face down in the gutter and let them make them choose to give up or drown.

It ain't pretty, but it is the ONLY thing they respect.

And Im still fine with it. The media needs to get over itself. They still bring us kelly ann conway on a regular basis, and trump pundits galore during the campaign who spewed their lies and got free air time. Trump and his administration deserved everything they got.

Could have done without the ted kennedy comment. “Murder” certainly wasnt the truth. Why bring him into it anyway? And abortion...these decisions are painful and not taken lightly.

I hadn't planned on watching but after reading all the comments on DU I had to. I don't get what people are so upset about. Was it kid friendly? No! It's an adult event not a night at Chucky Cheese. Did she slam some folks? Yep! Did they deserve it? Oh hell yeah! Our being "nice" is what got us in this jam in the first place. They're despicable traitors to our nation, no less so because many have no idea.

And I regret behaviors that provide a banquet of false equivalencies for the media to feed the nation.

This gig's a hard one. It's supposed to be mean, and how to carry that off without going so low we can be confused with them? Obama could do it.

I also think the media is smarting about the jokes/statements about their complicity, and so are perfectly willing to provide a platform for the right's poutrage.

We're talking about fascists and enablers of fascists. We should ask which they prefer: jokes about their appearance or calls for their heads.

Plus, he's a nice guy, not just a principled one, and that always comes across.

I was just reading about how ICE has been picking up American citizens and detaining them for weeks, months, years. We need to be calling for their heads.

Just learned Trump is promising to shut down the government in September if he doesn't get more funding for border security. He's trying to blackmail the GOP caucuses of course. Oh, please let this happen!

Fuck the media horse race bullshit. That very thing led to the crime family leadership Americans are stuck with now.

If they don't call out this corporate military junta for its cunning lies and stealth, these organizations will become caged parrots of propaganda.

The orgs at that dinner need to commit to THE truth, whole truth and nothing but, in the U.S., if they or this country want global trustworthiness.

I never liked him at all -- always cringed at his cruel sense of humor. Wolf was certainly no worse, and in fact a lot better. Nor was she more crude than Rickles probably would have been in an off-air setting.

I liked her for the most part, though crudeness in humor is never my favorite and there was a little of that. But you can't deny she's brilliant.
