Ex-Wynn Resorts CEO files defamation lawsuit against former employee - WSJ

(Reuters) - Steve Wynn, who resigned in February as chief executive of Wynn Resorts Ltd (WYNN.O) following allegations of sexual misconduct, has filed a defamation lawsuit against a former employee of the casino company, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.

The lawsuit, filed last week in Nevada state court, charges that Jorgen Nielsen, a former artistic director at the Wynn Las Vegas salon, made “false and defamatory” statements to the Wall Street Journal and ABC News, according to the report.

Reuters was not able to reach Nielsen for comment.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Nielsen said he was unaware of the lawsuit and had declined to further comment.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission granted a license to Wynn Resorts back in 2013, to establish a casino in the Boston vicinity. The accusations against Wynn himself caused MGC to begin an investigation to determine if the company gets to keep that license, even though there has already been substantial construction work done on resort. According to Forbes, had the MGC known about the allegations in 2013, they would most likely have denied them the license, because of their stringent requirements on stuff like character.

Right now the casino is trying to convince MGC to remove Wynn himself as one of the key people in the deal. But the MGC (according to Forbes) is also looking into whether or not the board of Wynn Resorts knew about and concealed word of the complaints and any settlement while they applying for the license in MA. That would make it the company's problem even if Wynn is gone.

Nielsen was one of the people who said that the complaints had gone up the line, w/o any action being taken.

BTW while Wynn is screaming about defamation and witch hunts, he has accused his estranged/ex-wife of being behind the entire thing!
