So, Spanky McBoneSpurs is going to trash talk Senator Testor, a man who has advocated for veterans, who stood up and spoke about reports he was receiving from 23 people who believed that Admiral Jackson was unfit for the job of Secretary of the VA. Let me tell you something. If 23 people spoke out about their concerns, you can best believe that there were twice as many that didn't feel that they could without compromising or jeopardizing their careers. It takes a lot of courage to speak out about military excess or conduct unbecoming. The retaliation can be swift and permanent. But if these charges are valid (and I believe they are), wouldn't it be better to know now and avoid yet another scandal and further setback to Veterans ?
The VA is more than just health care. They provide educational assistance. They help Vets buy homes. And so much more. The VA is the largest civilian employer (behind DHHS), at 400,000 employees. That is an enormous responsibility to take on, especially for someone with NO background is running a large federal agency. I'm not saying that Jackson was a bad doctor . . . ok, maybe he was (You do not hand out opiates and Ambien like trick-or-treat candy. And if trump is 6'3" and 237 pounds, I'm the "Purple People Eater."
. But, he was not qualified for this job. And blame the WH for not properly vetting this hire.
Let's hope the next nominee is better suited for the job.
