Don't be surprised, if upon sentencing, he is allowed to remain free pending appeal.

"I'm not simply going to lock him up right now," the judge said, citing his age and his track record of appearing at every hearing for two and a half years.
"You are making a very big deal of something where there is a very high bail and he has appeared at every appearance," O'Neill said.

Really what has he got to lose now if he runs with his millions?

So what if he made his earlier hearings. He is now going to prison for life.

It might be a burden on the system to have that old a prisoner; at least, a new one (as opposed to the likes of Charles Manson who was with them for decades).

He cited Cosby's age. That should not matter. Indeed, if anything, it militates in favor of sending Cosby to jail now, so that he at least serves some jail time. Otherwise, with lengthy appeals, he stands a good chance of dying before serving any jail time, and thus escaping punishment altogether.

It could explain his sympathy for Cosby.

I doubt he worries that he will ever been in the shoes of a sexual assault victim, hence his lack of identification with or empathy for the victim.

She told me....out of the blue.....that she had been drugged and date raped by two guys at an auto show, but she could not prove it. I asked her why she had not pursued it and she said she felt like no one would really listen. That was 25-30 years ago. I believe her. She is very down to earth and just wanted to turn the page

She was victimized in multiple ways that went beyond the violent sex act by Crosby.

Too bad your friend did not go in to an emergency room and get a blood test for the drug(s) and all the other evidence that can be collected. I think they call it a rape-kit. That is what women should do. Immediately, before showering or changing clothes, go to a hospital for evidence collection and report to the police while there.

Which many times they don't. There is a huge backlog on testing them. In some larger cities, thousands have sat for years. In Detroit, they discovered over 11,000 rape kits just sitting in storage. All untested. It took them 9 years to process them, with the last of that batch just recently being processed this past March.
