Sean Hannity wont be beaten that easily.
After weeks of scandal, it looks like the Fox News anchor most closely connected with President Trump isnt having his ratings affected by the negative media coverage.
Just two weeks ago, we learned that Hannity was the third client of Trumps personal lawyer Michael Cohen. This led to a lot of gossipy speculation that, because Cohen has been hired as a fixer in scandalous cases involving marital infidelity, perhaps Hannity was paying hush money to a mistress. These rumors were found to be untrue, and Fox News issued a statement of support for Hannity. However, that didnt stop some of Hannitys colleagues from chastising the host, saying he was trying to have it both ways by asking Cohen for legal advice and maintaining he was never an official client.....................

(6,377 posts)He's got far too much support from both Fox and his viewers. He's basically another version of Trump. Fox makes too much money off him to let him go, and his supporters love him so much that they'll never leave.

(37,428 posts)There wasn't much chance of Fox' dismissing Hannity over even an obvious conflict of interest. If there's dirt in the relationship, it hasn't come to light yet.

(25,111 posts)collectively that watch the other cable combine, and therefore in my opinion, population wise out number that one truly fake one.
Commericals I would think would target more viewers than the one fake one news channel.
Ya think, companies would be explosed to more variety of persons, than one fake channel.
Therefore, at this point in time, the USA's exposure is limited to bullshit crapola fake news.
And, fake news (Murdoch) plus sin sin clair are a dying breed.

(6,916 posts)The right wing propaganda machine is evolving and improving. We cant just wait passively for it to expire. It will not. American oligarchs put too much money into propaganda.

(92,409 posts)population watch cable news?
What percent of the population have cut the cord and don't watch cable?
2.48 million watch fox news.
There are 250 million adults
That means .1% of the population watch fox news, and 99.9% of the adult population don't waste their time

(25,111 posts)The other cable channels combine has a whole lot more.
Even social media has a whole lot more NON RWers, but somehow RWers are trying to control the message. This needs to stop.

(6,916 posts)Prepping his propagandized listeners for the coming pee tape- telling them it will be fake.
I agree were going to fix the propaganda problem over the next decade. But it matters right now too. So we should all be telling everyone we know to stop watching Fox and listening to right wing radio.

I suspect its that their viewers vote and a majotity of the 99.9% dont.

CNN not much better. Do Wolf and Anderson each need two time slots?

Was there not a qualified person who could have gotten than 6PM opening who wasn't a white male?

(6,916 posts)Fox hires inexperienced white women because they are hot.
MSNBC isnt great - the corporate Comcast influence is clear, and Lack came from Fox. But they have a lot of strong smart women, and they have Joy Reid (a weekend host: still a host).
MSNBC hosts are MUCH more diverse than Fox. Thats what happens when you have a network like Fox that is a propaganda arm for a party of white people that needs to inflame racism for votes.

(6,916 posts)We have a big problem in American society: the Republican Party and its propaganda machine. We shouldnt become numbed to them and spend all our time on much smaller sins elsewhere.
Lets focus on the big sins: the actions of conservative billionaires.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)No argument there.
However, that has really nothing to do with the fact that MSNBC ought to have a more racially diverse group of prime time hosts, in my opinion.
We can make positive change happen on our side, at the very least.

(37,369 posts)They were pimping trump for a Nobel Prize. And gushing about how wonderful he is. I was expecting the guy to say, "I love you Donald, and I want to have your baby!"
It seems to me that the Nobel Prize Committee has some standards that Trump could not possibly meet, so I don't know what the Fox people are hoping for.

(89,271 posts)and when democrats do watch a significant number will tune into CNN even with more watch MSNBC. so the numbers will split.
while right wingers as a whole will watch Fox News.
and right wingers are also more likely to tune into all the other crap including limbaugh and other talk radio.
most democrats will maybe watch one or 2 shows and not as regularly as the right wing watches their crap.
also i'm sure people wanted to tune into sean hannity to see what he would say after the cohen thing.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)That's only 6 percentage points lower than the number who identify as Republicans.

(89,271 posts)and the percentage of republican fox viewers is still greater than the percentage of republicans that identified as republican in the general public.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)It shows that 1 out of 5 Fox News Channel viewers voted for Hillary Clinton.
And that a similar percentage of FNC viewers also watch MSNBC regularly (and an even higher percentage of FNC viewers also watch CNN).
https://www.surveymonkey.com/curiosity/cable-news-partisanship-drives-trust/
I just think it's important to remember that while Fox News viewership does heavily skew Republican, there is still a pretty significant percentage of Democrats who watch regularly.
There is some overlap in both directions.
JI7
(89,271 posts)They are still heavily right wing. Trump watches all networks alsoi.

(58,724 posts)I guess I just think there is some value in the fact that it's not completely two isolated groups - that there is a little crossover, maybe something can make an impact.

(32,094 posts)Sure, viewership is even before 6 PM. That's because only the retirees are watching. Once working people get home from their jobs, you'll note that almost twice as many people are watching the non-Propaganda Channel networks during some hours.

(9,287 posts)as cord cutting accelerates. Bad news for traditional pay TV: cord cutting is accelerating at a pace faster than previously estimated. According to a new industry report from eMarketer, there will be 22.2 million cord cutters ages 18 and older this year a figure thats up 33.2 percent over 2016. The firm said its had to revise its forecast as the pace of cord cutting has increased. Previously, it believed there would only be 15.4 million cord cutters in the U.S.

Fox only has 2.5 million viewers at most.

(3,515 posts)Fox is the conservative network, the only one.
CNN which is rather neutral and MSNBC which in the evening is maybe more "liberal" in its viewpoint are acceptable to anyone who is not conservative.
Consistently, CNN plus MSNBC have more viewers when added together than Fox can even dream of.
