Diamond and Silk Appear on Fox & Friends After Wild Hearing: 'Thankful' to 'White Republicans'

by Aidan McLaughlin | 8:33 am, April 27th, 2018

Diamond and Silk appeared on Fox & Friends Friday, the morning after the two pro-Trump vloggers testified under oath before a Congress and denied they had ever been paid by the Trump campaign.

The duo, real names Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson, were challenged by House members on their denials, as FEC campaign filings showed they did receive money from the campaign. As Philip Bump of the Washington Post reported, the situation is complicated.

Appearing on Fox & Friends, Diamond and Silk declared: “We’ve never been paid by the Trump campaign.” They explained they had been reimbursed for flights to a campaign event in Ohio during the 2016 election, despite the FEC filing listing the payments as “consulting.” The duo then called on the “fake news” to “retract all of their lies.”

Diamond and Silk appeared before the House committee to raise their claims that Facebook censored their account because of their conservative views, a claim Facebook denies.

The pair then embarked on a rant thanking the “white Republicans” in Congress and declaring their escape from the “Democrat plantation”:

“We are very thankful to the white Republicans that allowed us a seat at the table to speak our truth about what’s going on, unlike the black men. And the reason why I say that is because we have been on the Democrat plantation. We know what it’s like over there. They are the ones that condition black people’s minds to make us think that white Republicans don’t want us to work, don’t want us to have any money in our pocket, but it was a black man that was concerned about how much money Diamond and Silk was making and was appalled about us making money legally.”

When hailing the “white Republicans” who heard them out, Diamond and Silk could be referring to Rep. Steve King, an ethno-nationalist who somehow still serves in Congress, and entered Gateway Pundit blog posts into the official record during the hearing.

The Diamond and Silk show goes to Washington

"Freedom," said Bob Goodlatte, the House Judiciary Committee chairman, quoting President Ronald Reagan as he began a hearing Thursday morning, "is never more than one generation away from extinction."
Goodlatte was suggesting that freedom was under dire threat because Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson, two pro-Trump social media personalities most commonly known as "Diamond & Silk," claimed they had been censored by Facebook. They had not been censored. Hardaway and Richardson's claims had been thoroughly debunked. But Goodlatte and his committee nevertheless went on to spend several hours on the issue.

At times, watching the surreal spectacle unfold, it felt as if the doors to room 2141 of the Rayburn House Office building had transported those who walked through them to a place where facts came second to political narrative and outlets known for misinformation could be held up as gospel truth. The affair was a fitting end to weeks of right-wing media fueling a false narrative that Facebook is censoring conservatives.
-
Earlier this month, Facebook erroneously told Hardaway and Richardson that their content had been deemed "unsafe for the community." Facebook quickly said the message had been sent in error, and immediately sought to contact both Hardaway and Richardson. But since the incident, the two sisters from North Carolina have used it to accuse the company of censorship, becoming lightning rods on the right for their campaign against the big tech company.

Over the course of nearly three hours, Republicans on the committee allowed the social media stars to pummel Facebook, and to do so unchallenged, even when some of their claims were so absurd that Democrats on the committee could be seen laughing in response.
Hardaway and Richardson were given license by Republicans to repeatedly claim that Facebook had "censored" their page, even though the social media company did not do so. When asked if their page was "blocked," Richardson answered in the affirmative, despite Facebook having never blocked or restricted access to the "Diamond & Silk" page. At one point, after Hardaway and Richardson denied receiving a payment from the Trump campaign, in contradiction to Federal Election Commission records showing that they had, Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries reminded the sisters that they were testifying under oath and, thus, "subject to the penalty of perjury."

So they get money, exposure, and RW media red carpet to tell lies and bullshit their own.
So very despicable and cynical. All for self aggrandizement and profit.

For some reason I find this very deplorable. Its like the televangelists. Nothing more offensive than stealing poor peoples money by exploiting their faith and desperation. I despise them.

I'm over here choking on my spittle over what useful idiots these two are. You said everything that I couldn't manage to say myself.

If I were black, I would be seething even more but maybe that's what they want.

At any rate, there will come a time when their usefulness is up and not only will they lose their place at the "white Republican" table, they will be escorted out the back door. And then I'm going to laugh. Heartily.

Sounds too much like a seedy underground BDSM fetish store for me to even approximate interest.

Do people buy the dribble?

Edit: frankly, "Fox and Friends" sounds like a similar establishment now that I think about it.
