Trump used FOX News as his instant soapbox today

...much like state television is used by dictators and autocrats.

They allowed it... and, the president stepped right onto that televised stage, barged right in, unannounced. It looked, in the end, like even the Trump-friendly FOX hosts were uncomfortable turning their program into the Trump show. I could be wrong, but that may be one of the things Murdoch was thinking when he called and told them to get out the hook and end the bleeding.

These are strange and perilous times.

A while back people were wondering what step would be the step too far for this man.

I posited that there would be no step too far. Instead, he would take a step too many. People, even his most ardent fans, would grow weary of him. I think that's starting to happen.

...three friends sitting in a malt shop having a pop, and the bad kid runs in screaming a crazy tale of conspiracies and recriminations. You just listen and nod, then beg off.

There's a limit to what even deplorables are willing to associate themselves with. It's like, I don't mind supporting you, in theory, from a distance, but you can't actually hide here.

I'm sure he thought he was brilliantly presenting his positions, but in fact he flushed whatever might have remained of his attorney-client privilege right down the sewer, while lacking any clue that he'd just fucked himself. It was both horrifying and gratifying; the best evidence I've seen so far that Spanky is both barking mad and as smart as bait.

said that 50 years from now people will still be watching and analyzing that interview in it's historical context.

It was horrifying. But a train wreck you can't look away from.
