It actually might have been a positive. A learning moment.

It also matters that it is a media personality. We should know who these people are. I have never heard it argued to the contrary.

I have researched and documented how to spoof the content in the Archives. I am traveling and not able to research her particular claims, but techniques that work with other content are likely effective in this kind of content "poisoning".

The main vulnerabilities revolve around dynamic content. You are able to override and replace the apparent content of pages archived years earlier. I wrote about this at DU some years ago regarding a major newspaper that was rewriting news stories from a couple of years prior. They also could force the replacement of locally saved archives if any of their style sheets were activated when displaying the saved pages. It is really amazing what can be done with clever JavaScript.

I wouldn't want to apply that same argument to anything said by Hannity or Ingraham.

I haven't been following the story really at all because I think we have bigger fish to fry. But I do think what journalists say and think matters. If they say something wrong they should admit it, apologize and move on. If it's today and on the air, then their judgment should be questioned by their bosses. If it was 10 years ago, they should be given the opportunity to say "It was 10 years ago. I was wrong and an idiot and I don't believe those things anymore."

People have no clue what is coming. The GOP has the Russian hacking community at their disposal. Expect a lot more Joy Reid situations to pop up (whether she wrote the posts or not).
