I'm listening to the descriptions of his behavior - bad temper, vindictive, hard to work with, etc......
Judas Freaking Priest!! If ever there is a specialty where calm, rational behavior is paramount, it would be Emergency Medicine!!!

(26,287 posts)I realize that his initial board would likely be in Internal Medicine, and during his time working as the White House physician, he likely didn't have to deal with emergencies. BUT, that certainly doesn't mean one won't happen. I can't even begin to imagine dealing with an emergency situation where the lead physician has anger issues and a lack of patience with subordinates.

(26,287 posts)And I had a brain misfunction - Emergency Medicine is a primary board with an internal medicine - critical care medicine sub board. I had that backwards. When I retired from credentialing physicians, I did my best to clear the now unnecessary clutter out of my brain.
There's a whole hell of a lot of things showing up in that report that are massive causes for concern. Damn.

(26,287 posts)There are no surgical sub boards to Emergency Medicine. This is the specialty description from the American Board of Medical Specialties:
Emergency Medicine
A physician who specializes in Emergency Medicine focuses on the immediate decision making and action necessary to prevent death or any further disability both in the pre-hospital setting by directing emergency medical technicians and in the emergency department. This specialist provides immediate recognition, evaluation, care, stabilization and disposition of a generally diversified population of adult and pediatric patients in response to acute illness and injury.
Sub boards:
Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine
Emergency Medical Services
Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Internal Medicine-Critical Care Medicine
Medical Toxicology
Pain Medicine
Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Sports Medicine
Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine
