Man, did I have a conversation with a right wing friend last night!

Yep, the same one from a few months back! It starts out that America is a better country now since Obama is out of office! Of course, I tried to dispute that but when I did ? Well! It was an hour & fifteen minutes minutes that I didn't know what I was talking about. His mind was stuck on Fox News and their views of the facts. He said that there are indictments on Obama and his cabinet people. I asked, "are you sure it's not Trump that you are talking about"! This really got him going! His one sided answer is Obama tried to steal the election for Hillary and they set up Trump to fail! This was all he could say over and over again! Now he is good person, but when he starts talking crap about the facts, it is hard to listen too! He even brought up Stormy and the other women! He said Cohen did what he had to do for his clients! So, last thing I asked him, "if Trump was a Democrat(thank goodness his not), would he still think Trump is right person to president? I knew the answer to that, but he had to go, never did give me a answer!

that will tell him or her what they already believe. If you get all your news from one source (as many on the right and some on the left do), than it's easy to find someone telling you not to believe your lying eyes.

Extreme RWers are entirely self-invested in being right. Facts don't matter. It's all emotional.

Doesn’t matter what facts you have or lead them to learn about.
Total brainwashing cult stuff.
Waste of time to try.

If Trump were a Democrat, he would hate him and point out all of his failures. However, that magic R in back of his name suddenly makes him Jesus. It’s such lazy thinking.

who've taken over the Republican Party is scary. We could toss them all out tomorrow if over a third of the electorate didn't just accept and make excuses for the unacceptable but actively support it.

Not all are authoritarians who'll support anything their leaders do. But all still loyal have new adopted "norms" for what constitutes moral behavior in the national gutter fight they believe our nation has descended into. They have no idea that half the nation is peering down into their gutter in shock and fear.

Imanamerican, I've experienced exactly what you have, though I normally avoid those actual conversations like the plague. Cons are full of concerns about real problems these days, of course, so I now sometimes respond by tossing a sympathetic-sounding, we're in this together truth bomb about what this government is doing and then quickly back out before they can respond.

Frankly, so much is not told to them by their media that they usually don't have a canned attack to respond with, and it's usually easy to change the subject during their befuddled silence. I'm not exaggerating this either. Rural GA and FL are not known for even average information levels about the world "out there." Those bombs always fizzle out, of course, but I like to hope a memory will come back to someone at some more receptive point.
