(37,748 posts)Not good? The final numbers for someone lacking name recognition bodes rather well for the Nov election there.

(6,377 posts)People who really thought she could were fooling themselves. But the fact that it WAS this close is a fantastic sign for the blue wave in November, and should be treated as such.

(12,634 posts)NYT has called it for the pubs, but if these percentages hold, this is a very good showing for us. tRump took this district by 28 points!

(11,068 posts)I've been out of the district for about 10 years, but the last couple times I voted there the Dems fielded a token candidate who didn't really campaign.
I'm curious about how the demographics will change - the West Side suburbs are getting browner - the Glendale and downtown Peoria areas of the district were pretty blue, but the rural and Sun City parts were still red.

(11,175 posts)With no Democrat on the ballot, the Greens had what I would guess to be one of their best-ever showings in a Congressional race. From Wikipedia:
Arizonas 8th congressional district election, 2016
Party Candidate Votes %
Republican Trent Franks (incumbent) 204,942 68.6%
Green Mark Salazar 93,954 31.4%
