3. About the GOP "rats"
Sun Apr 22, 2018, 12:33 PM
Apr 2018

The.." American Society for The Betterment of Mice and Rats" will take exception to being connected with the GOP. note: ....

Rats and mice in general, are not violent..do not attack people, and really all they want to do is reproduce and eat...

The GOP is " scum" ..whatever the worst kind of scum one can think of...that is it.. The GOP tries to hurt people, take away their health insurance, and raises the taxes on the middle income and poor, and cuts taxes on the rich. Rats and mice are not defined as "total selfish" ...and that is what the GOP is..total and complete selfish..." A self serving infection that kills and wants to kill innocent people"
Caring only about itself and ... "nothing else. "

But I thought about those little turds they leave and how they bite into packages of food that you have to throw away.

To me the gop leave turds whenever they get elected.

7. Sometimes we Dems shoot ourselves in the foot, sometimes we take it too far
Sun Apr 22, 2018, 12:53 PM

Democrats need to learn when is the right time to shut up and take one for the team.
I agree that we don't have the discipline that the GOP has in that regard.

On the other hand I love how the Democratic Party can embrace a multitude of opinions, religions, ethnic groups and life experiences and still keep growing. We're the party of life, love and growth, and sometimes we're a little messy.

Because it happens and has happened more often in the last couple of years than the last couple of decades since Reagan put that out there combined.

What about Corker? What about Flake? The list goes on and on. What do you think the whole damned Tea Party was/is?

Seems like selective awareness/memory.

11. For all of their faults, when push comes to shove, Republicans stick together.
Sun Apr 22, 2018, 01:00 PM
Apr 2018

They understand that the party in power controls the agenda for that body.
Too many on the Left make a false equivalence between the GOP and the Democratic Party and smear any Democrat who is not as liberal as they are or who does not pass their purity test as a DINO or Republican Lite when such a person would find no place and not be welcome in the Republican Party. Even GOP senators such as Susan Collins or Lisa Murkowski who often get hailed by the Left for their votes still support Trump's positions over 80% of the time.

The simple reality is that we have a 2 party system here where a president will either be a Republican or a Democrat and it will be one or the other that controls the House or the Senate.
There are stark differences in the philosophies of the 2 parties and there really is no blurring of the line between a Democrat and a Republican.
When the elected result is either one or the other and the perceived choice is between bad and worse, a rational person will do what they can do to make sure that worse does not prevail.

18. Calls for unity are one thing, Eliot
Sun Apr 22, 2018, 06:24 PM

Calls for lockstep, hive-mind unity quite another. Those are for REPUBLICANS, not Democrats.

You seem not to understand that there's an important -- even essential -- place in our democratic society for criticism of our political leaders.

I recognize that we have a special challenge trying to identify and fight off bots that ARE trying to sow discord, but your approach doesn't cut it, at least as far as I'm concerned. Lots of times you have very worthwhile content to share -- but I can't handle any more of this type of post from you -- not that I expect you to care all that much. But I find it every bit as offensive as I imagine you apparently find reasonable criticism of Dem leaders.
