Look at polling, talk to Democrats or watch cable news and it sounds like a Democratic wave will undoubtedly wash away Republican strongholds in the government this November.
But to Pennsylvanias Republican party chairman and to the two top GOP-endorsed candidates in the state everything is A-OK. In their world of campaign messaging, the wave wont be enough to flip chambers, their president is popular with voters and the only reason Democratic wunderkind Conor Lamb was able to pull off a Congressional upset in Trump territory last month was because he ran as a Republican.
In interviews with state GOP chair Val DiGiorgio, Senate candidate Lou Barletta and gubernatorial hopeful Scott Wagner this week, the trio of Republican stalwarts espoused similar rhetoric about their partys bright future in the midterm elections, assuring that the popularity of their president and success of the economy will stave off Democratic gains.

(4,483 posts)there is a primary contest to see who'll face the incumbent weasel Brian Fitzpatrick. One of the "democrats" changed her registration just in time to run, and her campaign slogan is "I'll work for you, not for Donald Trump." She had been a lifelong republican until now.
So no, the republicans aren't worried about PA. Not much, they aren't.

(9,273 posts)From one of her primary opponents, outraged that she WAS a Republican. Probably she just saw the light! I like her and she gets my vote 5/15. Although any of them will be infinitely better than "your independent voice" (who is he trying to kid!) Lyin' Brian Fitzpatrick.

(4,483 posts)Her "conversion" was just too convenient. Time was, you had to be a (moderate) Republican to win in Bucks County, but not this time around, and she knows it.
I would normally vote for a woman if all other things were equal, but her seeing the light just in time really pisses me off. Plus, her attack ads on Scott Walker seem based on the fact that he's rich, and nothing else. All of her positions on important issues are the right ones, but where has she been all these years? His material says he's espoused progressive causes all his life, so he's going to get my vote.

sure, he's personally against abortion, but believes in the right to choose - the same position as Joe Biden, Harry Reid and Tim Kaine.

My daughter is pregnant and will be high risk with many doctor appointments to come. We were discussing how she will not have co-pays for these visits thanks to the ACA. At that very moment an ad came on for one of the R Gov. primary candidates (Mango?) accusing his opponent of "supporting Obamacare" like that was a major fallacy. Epithets were hurled.
