6. The myth of our military might

While there is no doubt we have the most powerful military on earth, the idea that we are more powerful than the next several countries combined is based on spending. We are the most wasteful at spending. Military contractors in the US are the biggest racket in human history.

We spend money to give the illusion of security. Because in America, more expensive means better. Much of what we spend our money on for the military is useless. We have fighter jets when jets no longer engage in dog fights. We have new tanks that will never see a day of battle. And we outsource much of the services in th military to contractors who have bribed politicians to get sweet multi billion dollar deals to provide minimum service.

So while we do have the most technologically advanced and powerful military on earth, the gap between us and the rest of the world is exaggerated due to our wasteful spending.
