Does anybody else think Trump wanted a much larger and more provocative strike

Does anybody else think Trump wanted a much larger and more provocative strike and General Mattis stopped him ?

And that's why he's returning to his pissing match with Comey ?

This seems to be a calibrated strike to appease his domestic audience while not risking a larger conflagration, form over substance, if you will.

but was talked out of it by the few remaining smart people in his administration, plus the French and the Brits, who would have had no part of that.

He really wanted it to be in many, many news cycles. I'm thinking UK and France nixed that folly.

The limited bombing gives both Putin and Trump an opportunity to show their respective countries what decisive leaders they have.

Going after Comey is more personal.
