One of these men, despite his significant character flaws, was intelligent and at the end was still capable of self-reflection.

The other is a fucking moron.

he was capable of being a rat bastard, but also capable of compromise and reason.

for all the credit he gets for creating the epa, i think that was just a political compromise on his part, but it was a smart one nevertheless.

nixon was a bad president in many ways, but his legacy isn't unconditional disaster, like shrub's was and like donnie's will surely be.

the republican party should have fixed themselves after nixon and made themselves more responsible. instead they doubled down on nixon's "winning is everything" and "to hell with the laws if they get in the way of republican politicians" attitude.

You replied much more better than I did.

I'm not a great fan of Nixon, but it is unfair to judge him only on the Watergate scandal basis, as it is very often done.

I agree. The similarity is only in gesture.

As questionable as was Nixon, at least, he wasn't a traitor to his country, he had some values, and he was intelligent and educated.

Nixon is remembered for the Watergate scandal and his authoritarism but he did some good things too. EPA, Clean Air Act amendment, OSHA, ...

Trump is nothing but a gigantic turd !
