Why would Comey call Trump a "mob boss"?

Because that is what he is.

That is what most of America perceives him to be, in my opinion.

Even those that support him think he is a lot like Tony Soprano.

Too many find that acceptable.

But, we cannot have a "mob boss" for President. It can come to nothing except a disastrous ending. It's like you know your child is smoking crack but it's just a phase he's going thru.

People knew he was corrupt in the 1950's but he squeaked by with a stupid speech about his dog. Then later they were "shocked" when he turned out to be just as corrupt.as everyone thought.

Trump doesn't even have a dog to hide behind, unless you count Michael Cohen.

He really admired those guys and wanted to be like them. They were his role models. He was not able to play their game.

It’s a term even the least informed, dumbest trumpanzee can wrap their head around.

It starts the narrative, accurate in my opinion, that Trump is just a career criminal who inherited enough money to commit white collar crimes instead of robbing banks.

If Trump has been born poor, he would probably either be dead or in jail by now.

I think when his book is released next week, many people -- included DUers -- will be happily surprised. For example, people wonder why he didn't speak out about Trump-Russia before the election? Actually, he tried to. Mr. Comey wrote an op-ed, which would have run in either the Washington Post or NY Times (perhaps both),which was scheduled to be published on September 11, 2016. However, the Obama administration -- not necessarily President Obama -- nixed it. And that's just for starters.

...because he would not want to step on the investigation. I think he deeply despises Donald Trump.

I keep thinking back to the House Committee where he was a witness and a couple of Republicans put the heat on him to promise to return to their Committee if he found anything "new" about Hillary's emails. He promised them that he would. When those emails showed up in Anthony Wiener's account, he felt obligated to tell them about it. After all, he had promised them. It was 10 or 11 days before the election.

Democrats have not forgotten or forgiven.

that he and his team were aware of the widespread corruption and network of mobsters, Russian enablers/manipulators and GOP coconspirators but had not gathered sufficient evidence to tie everything together. This is pure speculation on my part but I think he was willing to influence the 2016 election because he saw a bigger threat in allowing the cancer to grow unabated. Perhaps, he too believed that the election was a slam-dunk for Hillary. He admitted that the idea that he'd turned the election made him vaguely nauseous. But he did it anyway. And ultimately, he said he had no regrets.

I think there was more than a little arrogance in that decision; we're here as a result of it. Guess it remains to be seen whether he was largely right or wrong. Although the damage we've already witnessed through the Trumpster's corruption and unfitness is stunning, it's going to take years before we have a clear perspective on the debacle.

Mob boss? Yes. Tony Soprano without the guts or charisma.
