America needs a shrink.

It's not just DU.

I know people who never read DU and they are as stressed and as worried about our country as the folks here on DU.

It is wearing on the psyche of people. They see an out-of-control Executive and a supine Legislature, unable, or unwilling, to perform their job of checks and balances. Rational people are very concerned.

There is no predictability in their lives anymore. They do not know what direction we are going. For many, it is similar to mental torture. It affects every aspect of their lives.

We used to be able to walk away from politics for a bit and know that at least the tenets of our democracy was intact.

Not so much anymore.

Too many people "walked away" for too long. It is heartening that it looks like people are getting involved again, especially young people and women. But it has been tough.

So much can happen between now and November. We can't depend on the the democrats taking back the House. It's too far off. Right now it would be patriotic if some of those disaffected republicans would try to curb his temperamental behavior.

After an hour, nothing has really changed, but somehow I feel better.

Bonus: I'm not paying her. Not directly, anyway.
