Ancestry.com owned by Spectrum Equity links Obama to first American slave ...

Ancestry website: Obama's mother descended from first US slave

CHICAGO -- A family history website claims it has linked President Barack Obama to the first documented African slave in the American colonies.

Research by Ancestry.com from early Virginia records and DNA analysis shows Obama is the 11th great-grandson of John Punch, an indentured servant in Colonial Virginia who became enslaved for life after trying to escape in 1640, according to the website.

The findings were released about 100 days out from the presidential election. Obama's campaign headquarters are based in Chicago.

"Remarkably, the connection was made through President Obama's Caucasian mother's side of the family," the site said in a statement.

The issue I have with this announcement is that Bain Equity/Romney and Spectrum have done business together in the past.... http://www.dmwmedia.com/news/2009/04/21/bain-capital-spectrum-equity-acquiring-surveymonkey

I believe they will go to any lengths to smear the current President, and a slave in the house painted white is smear material.

The Obama is 51% black instead of 50%!

I really don't get what that does for anyone against Obama. A racist will still just see him as "a black guy" either way.

Not that I'm saying that's definitely what OP is implying. But either way, if this is part of a repig strategy, I can't see what it is.

Only here can a son of former slaves rise to the very top and become the ruler of the free world?

I do believe that is true. This is the American dream writ large. Only those who hate America would see Obama being president as some error.

The rest of us see it as 'Hope' being something we Americans do best.

And you can be pretty sure that Bermuda, Jamaica, Cape Verde, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Ghana and a whole host of other nations have had rulers that are genetically descended from slaves.

I also seem to recall stories of Viking, Greek, and Irish kings who were once enslaved but i could be very wrong on that.

And then we will know how and WHY this suddenly came out of nowhere.
